Faiblesse persistante du bras et douleur. Peur de l'IRM

Hey all

So for the past month/nearly two months I have been experiencing quite severe aching pain down my left arm, as well as a loss of strength and intermittent tingling/burning/pins and needles.

I have really pronounced tightness in the left side of the back of my neck and through my shoulder. I can feel a muscular/lumpy texture all up there, I assume they are knots?

There are several factors that come into play in terms of the root cause of this (Reaction to FQ antibiotics, previous pinched C3 nerve, bad posture? Some disease yet unknown to me?), and I can't really be sure unless I know exactly what's wrong with me.

I have ruled out all heart problems and all my organs are functioning as usual. I am going in for an MRI this week to have a look at my cervical spine. Has anyone else experienced these symptoms - what tests did you undergo and what was found?

The problem is, I am scared ****less of enclosed spaces. I went in to a wide-bore MRI yesterday and upon seeing the tube I absolutely LOST it and was a ball of hysterics for about 40 minutes (I don't know why I was so emotional, I guess that's an issue for another day?!). So I am worried that I will not be coerced into one of these contraptions. Would physio suffice? Or a CT scan? How vital is an MRI?

P.s the reason I'm worried about it more than I would be is that the arm ache seems to originate in the armpit, which is giving me all sorts of anxiety about tumours and lymph nodes... Would an MRI even detect those?

Please go ahead with the MRI its totally needed to determine the cause.

Je comprends parce que je suis comme ça, vous pouvez demander un Valium pour vos nerfs, demandez à votre médecin ou à la personne qui vous fait passer cet examen, mais la plupart des endroits vous donneront des lunettes pour que vous puissiez voir à l'extérieur du tube ou ils peuvent vous donner des écouteurs pour écouter de la musique ou un bandeau pour les yeux pour que vous ne voyiez rien, vous vous détendrez si vous avez l'une de ces choses, j'ai peur de tout IRM mais je les surmonte grâce à mon Valium et mes lunettes qu'ils me donnent alors demandez simplement au médecin un Valium quand vous y allez.

Et assurez-vous de demander les lunettes ou le bandeau.

Thanks for your responses - I actually (luckily) found a standing MRI in my city that I'm going to go to. Will be so relieved when I get some answers!
