I’m a 23-year-old male and have been dealing with urethritis symptoms for about 20 days now. I initially had mild pain and discharge. Here’s the timeline of what I’ve done so far:
Days 1–5: No treatment
Days 6–12: Took Metronidazole (7 days) – no improvement
Days 13–19: Took Doxycycline (7 days) – some improvement, but still experiencing a little discharge and slight pain
It’s now day 20 and although the symptoms are milder, they haven’t fully resolved. I’m concerned about what the next step should be. I haven’t taken azithromycin yet. I also haven’t had a PCR or NAAT test done for chlamydia, gonorrhea, or Mycoplasma genitalium.
Has anyone had a similar experience? Should I push for testing or ask my doctor about different antibiotics? Any insights would be appreciated.
