I had gastritis two it didn't clear the first time thou so I had a double dose of the medicine for that!

Yea you should call and see what they say I was told to stop them as my test is the 24 hour one they put the tubes in and send you home with the machine with tubes coming from your nose I am dreading this

The test I'm having is basically the same it just picks up everything that comes up whether it's acid or not. I think they chose it as I'm having problems even on the ppis ( I was on 80mg Esomeprazole a day at one point and still having problems). I had to check and double check it was the right test tho as I think it's not just acid that's my problem but whatever else comes up. It's basically the same test just a different probe. I've had two laryngoscopes - they go up your nose and down your throat and they do that without any spray or anything and it's not too bad. You retch a bit but it soon stops. It's easier than the endoscopy so I'm hoping it's going to be like that. The thought of having something dangling there all day and all night is horrible though! I was thinking what if food gets stuck on it? What if I pull it out accidentally? What if my son pulls it out? etc etc . I know from the leaflet I've had that it takes 45 mins to put it in and 5 mins to get it out! I think the manometry bit is where they check on the strength of your stomach valve, this also let's them know where to position the probe. So it's two tubes really. I'm sure we will manage. All I've heard is it's uncomfortable. So 24 hours of discomfort - got to be worth it! X
You never know we may end up having the test on the same day if you get a cancellation, we can keep each other going with the nose tubes and self induced reflux! X
Yea I also was worried about the tube getting pulled out or things being visible also I find tubes and stuff a bit weird and can freak me out but hopefully we will both be ok and have a smooth time with the tubes!
The same day would be great we could corrupt the test together!!
I wondered how they would check your stomach strength as I was told mine us very bad and the the valve in my stomach is virtully useless and also my Esopigious is damaged also x
I think they put a tube in then pull it out to see what the pressure is ( not sure how they do that) that's the manometry bit. I'm really down this morning as sore throat is back and also sore mouth. Just waiting for the burning to begin now. So depressing. I'm definitely corrupting this test! Like you I keep imagining going back to the doc and being told I'm not refluxing enough. I'm going to try and find out as much as I can in order to do the test properly. ( by that I mean get me at my worst) . Now just got to get this burning under control. Does your mouth get affected? That's the worst bit for me

Morning how is your mouth now? Is there anything that gives you relief for that? I would say the worst part for me is the pain in my ribs it's constant and keeps me awake at night I cannot wear any high waisted clothing as this seems to make it even worse and the area is also tender when I touch it!
I also wake with the sore throat most mornings and sometimes my voice is raspy too it's horrible but does pass after a while

Morning (well evening) mouth not as bad as it was when I woke up, but still burning and sore throat. It makes me so depressed cos I don't know what I'm doing to flare it up. Then the whole, 'what if the ph test doesn't convince them to give me surgery' pops up and I really don't think I can live the rest of my life like this. The only thing I can think of is that I had a peanut butter sandwich yesterday, just to pack some calories in as I keep losing weight. So no more peanut butter, plus I've upped the Gaviscon. I was doing really well til about a month ago, then it's all started going wrong again. Last time it got bad I wasn't taking anything but now I'm on meds so it should be fine but it's not
high waisted trousers are a no no for me, too. Went on a bike ride today and had to wear Capri leggings so I'm expecting a bad morning tomorrow. It's so pathetic, isn't it? X
I think it doesn't really matter what you eat or drink at times as I've had it before when fasting for a blood test and only drinking water so at times I think what the hell and eat and drink what I like but then when I'm suffering I often think I was so foolish to do so!!
Yea I totally agree that there is no other option for this then the op I know recovery isn't a walk in the park but I would take all the suffering if it means after I am
Better I know my friends and family are probably sick and tired of me and hearing about this but I honestly never imagined something like this could effect so many aspects of your life x
I feel exactly the same. This thing has had me in tears so many times! It's interesting what you say about eating and drinking. I'm so scared now that I virtually eat nothing! I just wish I knew what my triggers are - I guess that the test will show when we are having a bad time... I thought that I would have relaxed a bit on the eating knowing the test was coming, but not. I'm going to try though. Have you tried raising the head of your bed? Bit weird at first but it really helps. I'm dreading putting it back down for the test but it's only for one night...
No I haven't tried that but I am like princess and the pea as I sleep with four big feather pillows!!
I think it honestly depends on the day as sometimes I've eaten stuff and it's been fine then the next time it's bad acid x

Hi there, I was going to message you yesterday and ask the same! My mouth feels a bit better but had the rib pain thing all yesterday. It's good to know I'm not the only one who gets that. I tried calling the hospital to find out about stopping the tablets but just got an answering machine. I'm going to try again this morning. To be honest, I will do whatever it takes, and if that means stopping the ppis then so be it. How's things with you? Any news yet? X

All the time. When I've been really low I've even been to the doctor and said I think I'm going to die from it. That's how it feels sometimes. You just can't imagine that it's not something awful because it makes you feel so bad. I've just come out of a few days like that where I felt like it was all coming back and I don't know how to cope
At the moment my stomach feels odd, like I'm full easily or like I'm feeling a bit nauseous. I so hope the gastritis isn't coming back as I don't know how you can have that on the ppis. I get really scared really easily nowadays. I never used to be like that.
I was looking through my leaflet from the hospital and it says you can take ranitidine ( Zantac) til 3 days before your appointment - maybe this is something you could
Ask your doc about. It might make things a bit easier for you x
With your rib pain, does anything make it worse? I was trying to figure this out yesterday.
On the plus side, the consultant said that for people who have surgery it can be life changing. I so hope so, plus I hope

I know that's how I feel and the last few days I have felt so low and teary almost at the point where I cannot take anymore I went to my doctors on Monday but was told there is nothing much that can be done which almost makes you feel worse!
As for the rib pain mine is pretty much non stop it is worse once I have eaten thou and at times it feels like something is caught in my ribs which makes the pain more intense!!
I have also had the feeling of being full bloated and sick that did seen to pass after a few days so hopefully yours will be the same!!
I really hope the op changes our life's as I really am at my witts end and don't think I can take much more of this x
Me too. People don't understand how depressing it is. I had a piece of cake this morning and had to run off immediately and take Gaviscon, then I waited to feel sick or for the chest pain to start. It's ridiculous! My rib pain feels like a knife is catching against something. I spend most of the day touching that spot without thinking about it. Like you it's tender to touch.
Roll on August/ September. I so hope we 'pass' our tests xx

Dear Stella, sorry you feeling bad, I know how debilitating it is. May I ask how long does your sore throat last please when it happens, I have just had a flare up and although my chest now feels less tight my lower throat still feels sore especially when I take a deep breath?
Ps I hope you get your opp soon so your quality of life improves.
