Physical Anxiety Only

I developed GAD/Depression several years ago. My doctor put me on anxiety/depression meds (tried many different ones) and eventually I started getting better. About 3 years ago, I suddenly started having physical symptoms that I never had before. Every morning when I woke up - my heart would be pounding out of my chest. Sometimes that is what wakes me up. There is no mental anxiety, no fearful thoughts, nothing. I have to get up and take a xanax and 2 tramadol, and have recently added ashwaganda and L-theanine. Then I have to lay down until the medicine takes effect (about 1 hour) and then I can function. And I have to repeat the meds about every 4 hours throuought the day. My doctor has tried me on about 100 meds to try to treat it and nothing has made any difference. I am still taking amitryptaline nightly.

I am really beginning to wonder if this is actually anxiety or something else completely. I've googled my symptoms, but have found nothing that helps me.

If there is anyone out there that has had similar problems or knows anything about what could be going on I would appreciate any help you can give.

Thanks.

Hi, I also have physical anxiety.  Mine isn't as purely physical as yours (I just wasn't recognising my thought patterns, so all I felt were the somatic problems), but it definitely leans that way.

I assume that you've had blood tests done by the doctors, but if not, it could really help you out.  In my case, I actually have iron deficiency and Vitamin D deficiency, which weren't helping because I was left feeling weak, dizzy, and unable to think clearly.  Of course, this just amplified my anxiety.  Plus, these deficiencies are actually linked to causing both anxiety and depression, so it really wasn't a happy combination.  If you haven't considered anxiety "mixing" with something else, I could be worth checking out.

I hope you find a solution that works for you.  Hang in there <3

anxiety plays with your mind I know the symptoms just keep on going trying to relax is hard Brain never stops worn out waiting for meds to kick in

Thank you. I think I will get him to do some blood tests to check for deficiences and also check my thyroid, which may also have something to do with it.
