Today has been a stressful day for me after taking my blood pressure .
I usually get nervous when taking my BP and the initial reading usually ranges from 145-155 over 88-94. As I continue taking my BP , it goes all the way down to 115-123 over 65-73 . However today was different , I took my initial reading which was 154/92 which i expected. What scared me was the next was ; 162 over 96 . I NEVER reach the 160s range and made me panic completely . I took about 8 more readings , back to back , and ranges between 158-168! over 93-101! .
I could not believe it , I took about a 20 minute break and came back .
My reading follow my usual pattern , thank god .
I manage to get it all the way down to 115 over 75.
Is it normal for anxiety to shoot up BP that much , over 50 points ?!
Yes it is normal its just your anxiety..mine does the exact same thing its scary when you get a high reading.. ive had 6 ekgs 3 chest xrays and multiple blood work and they say im fine same thing happens at docs office then its normal by time i calm down hust breath and know your ok best of luck
Don't know what to say except I have his problem too. The amount of food I eat affects it. My body temp affects it too. Cold weather I am sky high and warm or hot weather I am so low like 60 over 95. Docter never sees it when it is sky high or low though. Being hungry can cause a high reading for me. I do know that blood pressure also rises in response to exercise until you recover. My blood pressure shot up during a stress test and they were not concerned with it. Anxiety can do this too. Talk to your doctor and get checked out. My problem is that they never catch it and they think I am using my monitor wrong.
PS my lows are like 95 over 60 and my highs are 165 over 110.
