Please help interpret my HSV IgG results

I am 25 years old. I have recently got myself tested for STD panel tests (which includes TPHA, HIV 1&2 Antibodies screening test,Chlamydia trachomatis IgG, HSV 1+2 IgG serum and HSC 1+2 IgM serum). The results for all tests based on the bio ref intervals said "Non Reactive". However, the results for HSV 1+2 IgG says 28.90 (and marked in bold). But the bio ref interval still says it is <0.90 which is non reactive according to the interpretation. Can someone help me understand what could that 28.90 mean.? Does that mean I'm infected with HSV.? Please help

The reference range is for your reference. Your result is the value, in this case 28.9. Was the IgG test combined for the two HSV types? If so, you may consider retesting for each separately to see which one you have. Probably HSV1, which is very common orally, often without symptoms. Two-thirds of the world's population carries it.

Thank you so much for the quick response. Yes, the HSV was a combined test. I've not had any outbreaks or other symptoms till now.. can this condition be cured.?

No, unfortunately herpes is a lifelong infection, but like I said, it's very common to carry it orally without ever developing symptoms, so if that's what you have, as I suspect, it's not really an issue. It would be good to clarify the HSV type with a type-specific IgG test, however, rather than assume.

Thank you again Feliz. I'll be going for type specific test soon. I'm worried if this is be a prob in my marriage life. Will this be passed on to my partner? Are there any vaccines available for this infection?

There are no vaccines. My doctor has told me that I can still have a normal life, what I have left I am 60!!!!!I just don't know how but that is what she has told me so all I am doing is taking my meds and one day at a time. Take care

Thank you so much for the reply.. hopefully I can lead a normal life too

Probably not, but that can depend on the type, whether he carries it already, and other factors. No, there are no vaccines currently or anytime soon, unfortunately.
