Please HELP me urinating every 15 mins/extremely depressed

I am 49 never had a UTI or any urinary issues ever.  A month ago I woke up and could not stop urinating.  Its to the point that I cant go to work or anywhere else for that matter.  It was like a light switch this did't happen gradually.  I have been to the Dr 4 times and a urlogist, something is wrong but nobody seems to want to listen or help fix the problem.  I was prescribed Myrbetriq which I have been on for 7 days with NO relief.  I have had cancer in 2012 (lymphoma) and chemo and that was a CAKE walk compared to this.  I am EXTREMELY depressed, afraid of losing my job.  Can something like this start overnight like this?  Only 1 urinalysis out of 4 grew a bacteria called enterococcus faecalis and I was treated with Amoxicillin then Cipro with no results.  I have left kidney flank pain and I truly feel like I have a UTI or Kidney infection but nobody will treat it as such since my urine never shows an infection (probably because I was on antibiodics??)  I am DESPERATE over this.  I cant imagine living like this for the rest of my life.

Wish I had something more useful, but can assure you that you are in NO WAY alone.

Still on the remedy search myself. About to try Interstim device. Nothing has worked so far, including Myrbetriq and everything else. Let's pray for each other!

Well sounds like you are going through hard times,I recommend you to go to a physical therapist in the place you live in and they will say you should do kegals exercises

Let's us pray for the well being for all who suffers from incontinence

I meant let us pray

I have been praying and I hope there is a solution for this.  I wish there was more information out there for people like us suffering from this terrible thing.  I had a Dr. appt today 20 minutes away it took me an hour and a half to get there for the bathroom stops,  They did do a urinalysis and I DO have an infection.  (I have been telling my dr this for a month) but he keeps insisting I dont as my urinalysis(s) were not coming back with anything...only once but now twice so started on a new antibiotic but waiting for culture results to know if I am on the right medication.  Can incontinence start overnight?  Because mine just started one night and never stopped.

Did yours also start just overnight?  I mean I have never had urinary issues and I do have a UTI for a month now...the antibiotics havent been working and I am thinking or should I say PRAYING with the right antibiotics this will go away?  They just did another urinalysis that confirms I have a uti (this is the second one in my lifetime)  I just cant believe something like this would start overnight???

Hey Sassy.

Mine started very gradually over 30 years ago; too gradual to be an issue until the last decade.

Overnight for you - must have been alarming!

Had my trial Interstim inserted about 9 hours ago. I was resigned to "Hope for the best, expect the worst'.

It is way too early tfor a conclusion, but so far YIPPEE-KI-YO-KI-YAY!

Would ordinarily have wet my pads and peed at least five times by now, but just one or two in 9 hours AND drinking lots of coffee which I often must avoid.

The procedure was easy and pain-free. Along with Botox injections (which I can't take because my problem stems from being diabetic), this may very well be my miracle cure.

Will go back in a week to make it permanent or, if the issue is not at least 50% improved, remove the device entirely.

Please, please, please find a urologist, female if possible, that is on board with these procedures.

Sending you my best thoughts!

What kind of device is this?  I am I suppose pre-diabetic.  I have changed my diet around and my sugar is really good except in the mornings.  OMG I will say a prayer that this works for you.  nobody should suffer with this.  It took me an hour and a half to see a urologist today that is 20 mins away due to six bathroom stops.  Keep me posted :-)

Mine was created by the same company that makes my insulin pump, which helped me decide. This link says something about "not for diabetics" but none of my specialists cared. Doc thought Botox might not work as well on a nerve damaged by diabetes.

I am excited to hear what you do!

Good Morning :-)  How is ot working for you since yesterday?  Did you get a good sleep?  I SO miss sleeping.  Also, do you have any suggestions for the rawness that seems to occur from the diapers?  OMG I can barely sit.  I feel like nobody thinks this is a serious issue, unless this actually happens to you, I dont think anyone can truly understand.  I just want my life back!  Please let me know how you are doing with the device?  Wondering and hoping if your still having relief...wink

Good morning to you, Sassy. Recovery is perfect. Took me a while to fall asleep as well, but okay now.

The device effects started decreasing later in the evening and Medtronic instructed me to turn up the stim rate. Apparently they started me at the lowest and want me to adjust it during this trial week. The minimum they are hoping to get is 50% improvement, although I want MUCH more.

I'm confused about diaper rawness. They seem soft. Perhaps a different brand is worth a try. Inspire Womens Underwear and Depend FitFlex work okay. I've worn my undies under the diaper. If I wear an outfit that can't take the diaper, I just load up my own underwear with padding.

I believe a lot more of us understand this than we suspect.

Always gotta experiment as much as possible to make our lives that much better.

I really hope this works for you and I cant wait to hear you tell me how much better your life is with this device.  It is appauling to me that we have to go through all these crazy tests and different medications before we can have a real solution to the problem.  I do Bookkeeping for a job and I sit for most of the day when I am not running every 5 mins to the bathroom.  I am sure I am going to lose my job because of this. I am raw from all the urinating and wiping.  I always feel dirty and I just cant seem to let go in the diapers.  I guess maybe at some point I will finally give in but so far I just cant seem to just let it go. I have a pretty bad UTI right now and have had it since this started just over a month ago. I am on Macrobid right now and I am PRAYING this will reverse this.  Please keep me posted on your progress I am SO hoping you get the desired results.  I am so thankful to have found this forum and to ave wonderful people like you to help get each other through this difficult time.  Have a wonderful day :-)

Good Morning Brainy!  Wondering how you are coming along?  I was switched from Myrbetriq to Xoycontinin and it is working SO much better.  Im seeing urologist Monday I would really love to find out what is causing this instead of medicating the issue...but at this point going less than 4 times an hour feels like heaven.

Hi Sassy.

Really glad you're happy with the new med.

I am extraordinarily even tempered, but Myrbetriq made me feel homicidal.

The first half-day after stim insertion was 100%. Leaking and urgency got better,

then wavered

Stil adjusting the trial rate and it's mostly improved, except the frequency is still a  higher than I want.

Best of luck with Xoycontinin!

I will be satisfied at this rate, but trying for better.

Good Morning Brainy....So the oxybutinin is helping a little...still going at least once an hour.  Yesterday they put the camera into my bladder and everything is fine.  They now recommend Botox injections in the bladder.  Have you tried this?  If so did you have any success?  Was it painful?  Very scared about having this done.  Also now that you have the Interstim how frequent do you need to go?

Happy to hear the Oxy is helping, Sassy.

The InterStim has definitely improved things but still going more frequently than I'd like - going hourly, but sometimes several hours will pass. Love those moments!

The permanent stim is in; surgery went well and I have the remote to adjust the rate and hope for even better results.

Resigned to the fact that I may have to accept and live with a less-than perfect cure, but am grateful for all the help it's given me.

Will also await newer technology to come along with something miraculous.

For ALL of us!

Hi SassyKJ, I've been reading your discussions and I've been having the same symptoms. My frequent urination started about 6 years ago(all of a sudden) and has only worsened over the years. When I did a urodynamics test about 3 years ago, they confirmed it was an Overactive bladder. I have taken medication like Myrbetriq, Vesicare and Oxybutynin, none of which helped. Over the past 3 months I've been getting UTI symptoms one after the other. I took my 3rd dose of antibiotics and I still have UTI symptoms. My recent urine culture showed no bacterial growth so I'm not sure why I have these UTI symptoms. I wake up every 2 hours at night. This has been extremely frustrating, I've seen several doctors (one of them even mentioned it maybe in my head). I know what it was like when I don't have these issues so something is clearly going on and nobody has been able to help me. I've been extremely depressed and this is ruining every single aspect of my life.

I know this is an older post but I was wondering if you have been able to find a solution? I see that you tried the Interstim procedure and my urologist mentioned it as the ultimate option. I wanted to know how that worked out for you? Please do let me know. Thanks

Hi P.A....I am so sorry to hear you are going through the same ordeal. It has been 2 1/2 years for me now and I am no further along than I was the last time I was on here. I do have the Interstim, however, it did not help me. In fact it has been shut off for several months now. It seems when I do have it on it causes my heart to race. I found that Medtronic was great during the TRIAL stage, but after it was permenantly placed, I have just been pushed aside. Hard to get a'hold of anyone at Medtronic for assistance. Since my last post I have been doing at home bladder instillations as they changed my diagnosis from overactive bladder to Intercistial cystitis, however if you look up IC, typically you do not get infections. I am on Macrobid 1 x day for uti prevention along with Oxybutinyn 15mg 2 x day. I have had many test results that show no infection even though it feels like the devil lives in my bladder. If I stop taking the macrobid (which I did as a test) it took me about a week to show a positive infection and each infection is this funky bacteria called ESBL. Each time I get these I need stronger special antibiotics to clear the infection (usually Fosfomycin) my latest infection took about 5 weeks to clear up. Yesterday 06/24/20 I started IVIG infusions as my bloodwork shows I have very low IGG and IGM levels (these are certain antibodies that help fight off infection). It is a lifetime treatment and they are not sure it will help my bladder, but I am sure you understand that I would do ANYTHING to stop the peeing. It is physically exhausting and mentally well I cant even describe how my mental state is due to this.I never had depression or anxiety until this started. This issue has caused me to lose EVERYTHING. I left my job last June, was denied social security because somehow they think you can actually work like this and that caused me to lose my apartment. I am hanging on by a thread. It seems I only leave the house for Dr appointments and prescriptions. I would love to be able to speak with you so we could share our stories. Unless this happens to someone they could never understand what we go through and how we suffer.

I do not believe that antibiotics cause one to urinate more often. They may change the colour slightly for a time though. I think you might need surgery if your peeing every 15 minutes. There is a problem with with liver.
