So for the past week I've been having issues. On sunday I started to feel I may have the onset of a UTI so I went to the doctor Monday. They tested me for uti and said I didn't have one. Did a pap and various other tests and said I had BV. I had never heard of this and asked them what the symptoms were they said that odor and discharge should be my only symtoms I don't have either. My pain isn't really in my blatter its in my urethra from what it feels like. However it doesn't only hurt to pee it hurts constantly. At first they put me on metronidazole oral and it made me sick so they tried metro gel and bactim incase I did have a uti. I've been taking the bactrim for 24 hours now and the metro gel for 2 days and everything seems to be getting worse. I've never experienced anything like this before. I missed a whole week of work ill be lucky if I still have a job. Any information on this subject will help. I went to the doctor again today and she didn't take me serious at all. I'm in constant pain and don't know where to go from.here.
First ur dr needs to send your ur ine our to a lab for a proper culture. That will take a few days but will be conclusive. They can then medicate properly.
As for the BV, those are the right meds but again have dr culture to get a proper diagnosis rather than just a visual. You may have both but mixing n changing meds like that can't be good.
Ask for a sono to in order to check urethra kidneys etc
Bonjour, je subis des odeurs nauséabondes et des pertes depuis le 15 septembre. J'ai suivi un traitement à la Trichomonas mais cela n'a pas fonctionné. J'ai donc cherché sur Internet et j'ai réalisé que je souffrais d'une vaginose bactérienne. Je suis allée voir mon médecin la semaine dernière pour la première fois après avoir trouvé le courage. Elle a dit que, d'après ce que je lui décrivais, j'avais probablement une vaginose bactérienne et qu'elle n'avait pas besoin de faire des prélèvements. J'étais mortifiée car je voulais qu'elle les fasse pour écarter d'autres problèmes. Elle m'a tout de même donné du métronidazole. J'en ai pris deux par jour pendant 7 jours, puis j'ai pris rendez-vous pour la revoir. Il me restait deux jours de traitement quand je l'ai revue. Elle m'a demandé comment étaient mes symptômes. J'ai répondu qu'ils étaient moins importants et que l'odeur avait complètement disparu. Elle a dit à nouveau qu'il n'y avait pas besoin de prélèvements. Je me suis dit : "Qu'est-ce qui ne va pas chez cette femme ? Pourquoi ne veut-elle pas faire de prélèvements pour en finir ?" J'étais si frustrée que je lui ai parlé de ce forum et que j'ai mentionné que beaucoup de femmes qui prennent ces comprimés disent que leurs symptômes reviennent dès qu'elles ont fini le traitement ou ont des rapports sexuels à nouveau. Elle a simplement répondu : "Oui, c'est possible." Alors, docteur, faites les prélèvements ! Tout ce qu'elle a fait, c'est me donner un pot et me demander de fournir de l'urine le lendemain matin pour vérifier la gonorrhée et la chlamydia. Je voulais un test de culture et un contrôle du pH. Je veux dire, les gens ont raison quand ils disent que les médecins ne savent pas grand-chose à ce sujet. Et je vous dis qu'un documentaire très intéressant pourrait être réalisé sur la découverte de la vaginose bactérienne, car je pense qu'il y a des milliers de femmes qui souffrent de cette chose horrible. Mes symptômes n'ont pas encore réapparu et je n'ai plus d'odeur. Mes comprimés se sont terminés jeudi ou mercredi, mais je n'ai pas non plus eu de rapports sexuels, alors je n'espère pas un miracle. Pour toute personne prenant ces comprimés, tout ce que je peux dire, c'est de s'assurer de les prendre avec un repas, car cela réduit les nausées. J'ai trouvé que j'avais perdu mon appétit, mais si je ne mangeais pas, je me sentais mal. Si je mangeais en prenant le médicament, c'était supportable. Ils ont donc fonctionné, mais il faut attendre de voir si les symptômes reviennent. Je suis heureuse pour l'instant, car je pars bientôt en vacances. J'ai jeté toutes mes culottes et en ai acheté de nouvelles en coton, ce qui, je pense, aide. Bonne chance et essayez à nouveau le métronidazole.
Hi! I had a similar problem and after taking lots of meds, they gave something for irritated blader instead and worked immediately. I don't remember the name but your urologist should know.
But you also should check for stones ...it is very common. I had that too before and the stone can get stuck in your ureter and cause inflammation
Im trying to get into see a urologist but unfortunately my doctor isn't taking me serious at all because all yhe uti and std tests come back negative. They did say I have BV so idk if it could be a symtom of that. Its weird though my urethra seems to be the only pain I'm having. I thibk tomorrow ill try the ER. Do you have experience with BV? Anyway thank you for your reply it gives me some comfort knowing im not alone =)
Check online a urologist close to you and book an appointment, don't wait for your doctor this kind of pain doesn't look like BV. I had bv but now seems in control.
I've battled bv for 12 year!!' Never with any pain. Itching burning discharge yes. Never pain. You need to change doctors. They need to listen to your symptoms & act accordingly. You need cultures, not just dip stick urine test. Go to ER if you have the insurance. They will run the gamut. Poor thing. I feel for you.
I went to the ER today the did urine test, blood test, ultra sound and still found nothing. Im so scared Ive never been in so much pain and a doctor not tell me why. I've already lost my job and I'm afraid if it keeps going on like this I will loose my relationship. I noticed today I have alot of redness and buring on the left side of my labia I think it is. The only thing I've tested posted for was bv and they have done so many different tests... I'm on my third day of metronidazole gel for that.... Any advice would be appreciated... I'm just terrified
Omg I'm so sorry to hear this. And to lose your job too. So awful. The fact that the ER didn't find a thing in urine blood or sono is odd. Bv does not cause pain or at least I've never heard of it. Keep in mind that the urine should be a CULTURE & needs to "grow " for a few days to get accurat diagnosis. The fact that ur own dr dismisses ur symptoms is terrible. Are u in a big city? Second opinion with a gyn is necessary
Im going to try to get into a gyno Monday but my insurance is threw my job so I'm going to have to figure out that part of it. I just can't believe they didn't find anything today.... I live in Oregon right outside of portland. Thank you for listening and suggestions it helps.
Please don't be terrified. BV (Bacterial Vaginosis) is very common and yes, it can irritate your urethra and cause constant pain in the urethra or in the labia or vaginal opening because BV causes inflammation and inflammation causes pain. But Bv is very common and even after you complete the treatment your lady bits will take a week or so to return back to normal. The metronidazole gel can also cause more burning and pain because everything is inflammed.
Please don't worry, you will be fine. Vaginal inflammation can only be caused by one of three things, BV, yeast infection or atrophic vaginosis (lace of estrogen after menopause) All of these can cause pain in your urethra. If you start to feel better in a week, ask your doctor to prescibe an oral antibiotic which will treat both BV and a UTI infection. Many oral antibiotics do and you won't have more irritation from the vaginal gel. Also, make absolutely sure you don't have a yeast infection. Yeast can inflame your urethra as well. But don't worry, if you treat your vagina for yeast it will take care of your urethra as well. You can ask your doctor to test you for that if he/she hasn't already. But I can absolutely asure you that any vaginal infection can cause pain in your urethra because of inflammation. It has happened to me many times! Right now I have BV and my urethra hurts.

I'm literally crying right now this has made me so happy. Thank you so much. For that insight. I was so upset with my doctor for not discussing it more with me. I found out my insurance is good for 60 more days and I'm going to start looking for a gyno on monday just so I can get more infornation. My doctor has been terrible threw this whole and I truly don't think he realized how scary it was to wake up and have everything down there be wrong and no one seems to know why. Especially when I hadent experienced with this before. Anyway I will now rest easier tonight thank you.

Dani, j'ai eu une vaginose bactérienne depuis plus de trois ans maintenant... J'ai essayé des antibiotiques, des inserts antibiotiques, pour moi, cela n'a pas fonctionné en continu en tuant toutes les bactéries, bonnes et mauvaises. J'ai essayé des remèdes en vente libre, du yaourt, des probiotiques, du savon sans parfum, du douchage, du peroxyde, de la vitamine C insérée dans le vagin (a aidé pendant un certain temps, mais ensuite on m'a dit que cela amincit la muqueuse utérine), donc j'ai arrêté de faire cela. Maintenant, je lave seulement le rectum avec du savon sans parfum et le vagin uniquement avec de l'eau. Enfin, la vaginose bactérienne disparaît pendant quelques jours chaque mois, mais revient avec les règles. Quoi qu'il en soit, la raison pour laquelle j'écris, c'est à cause des symptômes de l'infection urinaire. J'ai eu des infections urinaires par intermittence depuis que j'étais jeune fille. On m'a dit que ma vessie ne se vidait pas complètement. Lorsque je me suis mariée, on m'a mis sous antibiotiques parce que j'en avais fréquemment lors des rapports sexuels. Longue histoire courte, je n'en avais pas eu depuis des années et j'en avais très souvent à nouveau. Lorsque l'on a testé mon urine, le résultat était négatif. Je me sentais comme si j'en avais une même si je ne faisais que me masturber en frottant seulement mon clitoris (trop d'informations... je sais... désolée). J'ai quelques calculs rénaux, mais on vient de me diagnostiquer une adénomyose, qui peut provoquer la pression associée à une infection urinaire. En gros, la peau pousse dans la muqueuse musculaire de l'utérus, provoquant des règles abondantes et parfois aussi un utérus élargi qui exerce une pression sur la vessie. Peut-être devriez-vous vous renseigner et en parler à votre médecin si rien d'autre n'explique la pression... bon courage. Tenez bon, je sais que c'est si frustrant. J'étais si excitée quand un médecin ne m'a pas regardée comme si j'étais folle. Mon nouveau gynécologue m'a diagnostiquée et m'a dit qu'elle avait aussi une adénomyose... prenez soin de vous... j'espère que cela aide.

Il y a deux jours, on m'a diagnostiqué une vaginose bactérienne après avoir d'abord été diagnostiquée avec une infection urinaire une semaine plus tôt, donc j'ai eu une vaginose bactérienne pendant une semaine.
J'avais l'impression d'être en enfer, mon vagin entier me faisait mal toute la semaine, très sensible au toucher et brûlant partout, chaque fois que j'urinais ou que je déféquais, j'avais l'impression de m'évanouir de douleur, et j'ai eu des cloques autour de mon vagin à cause des pertes jaunes épaisses et excessives qui sortaient (si mauvaises que j'ai dû porter une serviette).
Rien ne semblait fonctionner et on m'a à peine prescrit du métronidazole il y a deux jours, donc je ne sais pas si cela a aidé. Cependant, il y a environ une heure ou deux, j'ai fait ce que de nombreux utilisateurs ont dit avoir aidé, c'est-à-dire mettre une pilule de vitamine C directement dans mon vagin aussi loin que possible.
Environ une minute plus tard, cela m'a démangé extrêmement et cela a fait si mal que j'avais du mal à respirer, cela ressemblait à un liquide brûlant extrêmement chaud descendant dans mon vagin ! J'ai commencé à penser que c'était une erreur, mais ensuite, environ 40 minutes plus tard, après la douleur extrême qui a continué, j'ai eu envie d'uriner. J'étais prête à abandonner et à ressentir la douleur, mais quand j'ai uriné, je n'ai pas eu mal. Maintenant, mon vagin ne me fait plus mal et je peux uriner librement ! Je le recommande définitivement et si quelqu'un a des questions, je peux aider ou tenir au courant.

I was actually starting to feel a little better the last two days I saw a gyno on monday who said I had yeast and gave me a pill and I was so relieved when I felt it working however when I woke up today it was intense burning in my urethra again especially after urination and I did notice I had started my period... Im so depressed I've lost my job it hurts to walk even. While I thought my insurance was good for another 60 days it turns out I would have to pay a very large amount to keep it active so.after this week I'll be without insurance. This is no way to live

I've recently seen a urologist and she says my symptoms are related to something going on with my vagina and its irritating my urethra. I've been to multiple doctors and they can't find anything all urine and culture tests come back negative. I did test positive for cervical HPV but the doctors are saying the symptoms I'm having aren't related to that... I can't sleep, I'm starting to get anxiety all the time that I will have to live this way forever... Any information would be appreciated thanks.

Hi Dani! I really hope you're still here and see this. Did you ever get answers? I'm currently going thru the exact same thing as you. I don't know what to do and I'm in so much pain. My pain also involves my clitoris. I, and I believe you did too, suffered an allergic reaction to the Metronidazole gel. If you see this, PLEASE let me know how you're doing. I pray you healed fully. I pray I do too.
