PMR, PREDNISONE

I am coming back from a flare. As discussed on this forum, I got down to 6 mg., obviously too quickly from 7. I was good at 7 mg.

I went back up to 10 mg...have been at 10 for a month, feel good now...will not reduce again for two more weeks. I added folic acid and B vitamins to my diet, in pill form. I have had more energy, but have not been sleeping well now. Decided to forgo the vitamins today because of the bad sleeping...and, after some exercise in the a.m. Just "crashed"...went into a deep sleep for about an hour...finally recovered inlate afternoon some. Has anyone else tried various vitamins to help with the fatigue? Now that the pain is under control I still have the fatigue. Thank you for any input.

I think most things have been tried - with little result. It is a part of the autoimmune disorder and they are very difficult to influence. If you are on pred do be VERY careful about taking supplements of any sort and check with a pharmacist for interactions. Rest and pacing are by far the most reliable way to deal with the fatigue - google the spoons theory by Christina Miseriando for an allegory. Resting in advance works as well as after - planning a regular rest in the afternoons will allow you to get more from the day overall, strange though it may seem.

Thank you, Eileen...always words of wisdom. I do know that you have to be careful with supplements of any kind....and PMR is so difficult to effect.

I still have the overuse i jury to my left foot. I always think I can use "common sense" when gauging how much I can do from day to day, but I am better off doing the "every other day for activity" plan. I now remember reading about the spoons...I will go back and read it again!

Just my two cents...I finally sleep pretty well (after years and years, even before PMR). I'm on 8mg,Pred.

i find if I happen to eat even just a little of the "wrong" things past noon time, like any sugars, fruit, maybe just one cookie of my husbands, or caffeine, then I often wake up in middle of night.  Or if I did too much and my back hurts... That wakes me up.

So, I just wonder if it could be your foods too??? Oh, if I eat a processed food dinner, it probably has sugar in it.  Also, good fats at dinner help! Avacado, salmon, maybe try turkey! Doesn't turkey make us sleepy! Triptofan or something like that. wink
