Pornography and Masturbation issues...

I'm 20 years old. I've been masturbating since I was probably 14. This has been a daily routine for all my teen years like most men my age I would assume. I feel as if Porn and masturbating has hindered sexual performance in the past. The worst part is that I've built a tolerance for most porn and rely on more extreme pornagraphys to stimulate my sex drive. I am currently not in a relationship. My last relationship was very enjoyable and she was always fully satisfied with my performance. But what bothered me was that masturbation was still current in my life and it often outdid sex. I have had few sexual encounters since my last relationship. I have developed a phobia that I will dissapoint my future partner and myself if I cannot "produce". Masturbation is totally different from actual sex obviously.

I would much rather satisfy myself and a partner with sex rather than masturbate and I feel it is affecting me poorly. I just want assurance that stopping porn and limitting masturbation will allow me to go back to a normal state of sexual drive towards a partner.

Can anyone relate? Its been depressing me.

Yep, I know what your talking about. It's like an addiction. Luckily for me I became tired of it. The more extreme stuff was just gross to me.  I stopped watching it and after a while things eased back to normal. Usually if you stop, your body will naturally regain the need for what ever you will allow (meaning without porn). Once you get there - Stay away From The Porn, because you most likely can slip back into the addiction...  We are all different and some folks may need to talk it out with a professional - as in Doctor.. lol.  Seriously though, it is worth it. Good luck.

I would suggest that you try to stop using porn to stimulate you. Most guys (me included) have looked at and used porn for sexual stimulation but try not to use it too often otherwise it becomes the norm and addictive. Once you stopped using it so often then nature will take over.

Hey dude, thought I'd throw my 2 cents in as well if you don't mind.

I agree with matt82320 a bit... except it's not LIKE an addiction. It IS AN ADDICTION.  I'm in the same boat as you (porn and masturbation since 14 or so).  For religious and marital reasons (I'm 30 now) I've tried to give it up and it had been one of the hardest things I can do. It's been called one of the hardest addictions to get rid of, because the images will always be there - it takes more self control to manage what comes into your mind, but not impossible.

But, here are some tips from me if you want to kick the habit.  Now I'm not saying that this will solve your concerns, however I do know that I can enjoy my time with my wife a hell of a lot more when I've abstained from masturbating.

1) If you're at home with family or housemates, set you PC profile a 'User' rather than 'Administrator'.  Get someone else at home (or even your girlfriend) to set up an admin account with password (DO NOT get them to tell you the password) and then install a net-nanny program.  I've used K9 and found it to be VERY good. Again make sure they/she helps you set it up and only they/she know the password.

2) Get sticky notes or just pieces of paper, write on them a note that will help you to keep yourself on target and stick them in places where a) you regularly travel in your routines (i.e. fridge, bathroom cabinet) and b) places where you feel the most temptation (i.e. bathroom cabinet, ceiling of bedroom, computer monitor, etc).  If you want keep them cryptic so only you know.

I'm sure there are more you can do, but these have helped me.  Hope this helps, wish you the best.
