Hi everyone! Male 30 y.o. I did an endoscopy in March, which showed gastritis and the presence of bile in the stomach, also an express biopsy with ++ as the result. I was prescribed PPIs, which made me burp and bloated like crazy, 100x worse then before, so I dropped them after 4-5 days and "recovered" within a week to the initial symptoms (a bit bloated, I also have low WBC for reasons still unknown). My doc at the time told me not to eradicate h.pylori as she did not consider ++ to be worth treating with antibiotics. A couple days ago I saw another doc who told me to make a full stool test and a h.pylori antigen test, the latter being negative this time. I was a bit shocked as I had not taken any medications (except garlic which is considered by some as an antibiotic). Have just done another stool antigen test at another lab it's also negative. In the meantime, as I'm seeing my doc tomorrow, what can all that mean? False positive/negative biopsy/stool test or can the infection just resolve on its own? Thanks!
hi! an interesting question; hopefully someone will chime in with some knowledge about this. i just wanted to say that i would think the stool and antigen tests are probably false negative results and would trust the biopsy obviously as the bacteria was actually seen/found! Ask to be treated as H Pylori is considered a carcinogen.
I was diagnosed with H pylori 4 weeks ago.Before diagnosed I have pain in my abdomen and back on mostly the left side.Did the 2 week course of antibiotics and felt better while taking them.
Did another test 2 weeks ago and it was negative.Doctor said I should have waited four weeks to test again.I still have the pain that is relieved when lying down.
I am doing the test again tomorrow and will have the results in a few days.
oh and i had read that the infection CAN’T resolve on its own. i know i don’t trust the teat to be very accurate as my husband went from positive to negative as well without any treatment and now I am having stomach problems despite negative blood test. I am gearing up to do the breath test if i can somehow get off these PPIs … its going to be hell, I’m going to be so sick…
