It has been 2 years since I had my GB removed and I still have problems eatting different foods - anything fatty, or fried. This past weekend was the worst. I had to run to the restroom after eatting from Saturday through Monday morning. It has even gotten where it hurts to eat and I get nauseous. My doc says IBS; however, it only happened after my surgery. Anyone else have this problem? What have you done to address this? Who did you see? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
I've been reding a posts that indicate after one has thier gall bladder out they still have to avoid fat and oils. I have chrones disease and tried a fat free diet because I have been having gall bladder problems and it seems to put my disease into remission some what. Note: I'm not sure but I wonder if it is the oat meal helping too?

I had my gallbladder removed at end of April.
Don't get me wrong here, I am better than I was and do not regret having the operation.
However, my GP has now sqaid she thinks I might have IBS.
Apparently this is not uncommon to develop this if yu have had yur gallbladder removed.
Basically I am still getting quite a bit of stomach pain, particularly after eating and first thing in the morning.
Also am having pain in my right side and sometimes in m back passage.
This is worse when I have just been to the toilet.
Slightly constipated.
There was a post on here a few days ago from sandyman saying doctors nd consultants need to be more honest with us about the consequences of such surgery instead of just saying "You'll be fine in a couple of weeks." I very much agree with that.
Take care and keep in touch

ave a similar problem i am 18 months on from my op and i struggle eating foods even fruit and salads. Ive noticed if i eat small buts of food but often my symptoms arent as severe. I get nausea and sometimes vomiting depending on what foods i eat i get pain where my gall bladder used to be. I take cyclizine for the nausea and sickness and tramadol for the pain
A bit more honesty would be great! Information about the procedure, pre- and post-, would also have been helpful. Some people act like I am making all this up because there people they know are not having any problems. I appreciate hearing from everyone. It really helps.
Wow! That's rough! I have trouble with fats, starches and sugars. What a rough way to lose weight. Small meals help me, too!
Hey!
That is good to know. How are you feeling on your fat free diet? I have trouble sticking to it. How are you doing it? I bet you are right about the oatmeal. Never thought about it.
Yeah,It's difficult to stick to. I find myself eating things with fat, sugar, and meat lately. So far so good though as I re-introduce things. I read that it's OK as long as you keep the fat content under 3%. I slipped last night and ate a taco my better half made. I am paying for it today as it is causing the runs. The other thing that seems to help is cream of rice or just rice (steamed not fried).
Could be that your sphincter of oddi was irritated by previous gall stones passing through and has some scarring which is causing it to dysfunction, not relax properly causing pain.
I also, found out that I have Coeliac disease and since going gluten free my symptoms have been much reduced.
Thanks, Wendi! I am now going to have to find someone to help me figure these out. Any idea what kind of specialist is needed? My primary care is not listening to me.
I have started a food diary so i can keep a track on what causes flare ups but sometimes you get sick of eating the same things but on thursday evening i thought sod it i had 1 slice of pizza and ive been in agony with my stomach and vomiting friday and saturday fell drained.
