Post Hydrocele Surgery

Hi, my partner had surgery to remove his hydrocele 2.5 days ago. He's been really suffering with all around his scrotum area but this evening been complaining of really bad lower stomach pain. Is this pain a cause for concern? The wound itself all seems normal and there is no major swelling etc. We have changed the dressing/ bandage every 24 hours, but are unsure when to remove the bandage and dressing. Any help/ advice really would be useful. Thanks

I had 3 of these surgeries never had any lower stomach pain it might not be related is he taking pain meds they might be giving him a stomach ache ? The pain I had felt like a kick to the junk(he will know what I’m talking about) but not stomach pain.

katie, i had lower abdomenal pain for a fair bit of time due to inflammation and/or infection. I’d always recommend erring on the side of caution and get it checked. For mine, after my second surgery, it felt like my lower abdomen got nipped by a blade… i was assured it was part of the recovery. still had it checked routinely.

Stomach pain would not be from the surgery! Just keep icing both around the area and probably on the stomach. Why are you changing the dressing? A doctor should be doing that! If your partner is using pain med keep on keepin on!

to be honest KATIE i left a cotton pad on mine with antiseptic simply resting on top of the wound . no tight bandages or anyhing and it healed very fast. A cool pack really help to reduce swelling. Remove the badage one the wound stops weeping and looks fully healed.

Hello there will be swelling of the scrotum because during the of the surgery (there are tissues between the scrotum and the testicle damage during the surgery ) you cam apply ice pack to it to carry the swelling down. I had mine done 4months ago and the swelling is going done slowly. Please note that it will take 6-8months to completely heal. But still check with your doctor
