Post Shingles Symptoms?

I had Shingles on the left side of my face in 2007 and thankfully it has not returned. However, every year on the anniversary of the illness I become very fatigued and experience a tingling sensation but with no neropathic pain or rash. My mood also deterioates quite significantly which last for up to a month. Is anyone aware of a yearly occurance of the symptoms as I cannot find anything on the internet?

Hi Stuart. It's called shingles or Varicella Zoster, sine herpete I believe from reading about it on here. That just means shingles without the rash in plain English! I've been like this since last April at intervals, usually when I'm stressed or feeling low with a bug of some sort. It means the virus is not dormant and can flair up at such times or so I understand it. GP's don't always know this but people on this forum have done their own research as not much IS known about shingles apparently. Best to rest and recoup when this happens as you could start another outbreak. Hope this helps. rolleyes

Thank you for your reply, it's very helpful as I get little understanding when I speak to medical professionals. Am doing my best to manage the symptoms at the moment but not easy when working in a stressful job. Which is ironic given I work in Mental Health! Thank you again for your reply. 😀

Hi Stuart. I think most of us on this forum has been down the same path. If you feel ill with any of the symptoms, it would be good idea to take a 'sicky' for a few days if poss. We need to rest and recoup so the virus can hopefully go dormant again. It won't get better if you're stressed and overtired as I'm sure you are in your kind of work! Take care of yourself first, the patients afer, or "physician heal thyself" as the saying goes. Also keep posting and reading what others have to say. Best wishes Pollyanna UK. rolleyes
