Hello all !!!
As some of you know, I had my surgery ( Balloon dilation of the Eustachian tube ) on Friday 7/7/2017. I was under general anesthesia ( pleasant experience ) and the procedure took about 20 minutes. Some observations. Procedure was painless post op except for the soreness in my throat which usually occurs when you are intubated as I was. Chewed a lot of ice chips the past few days. Almost back to normal. As my doctor told me post op, I do have a feeling of fullness which should last a week or so as the swelling subsides. I am quite congested as a result of the anesthesia and the fact that my E tubes we stretched to capacity. Coughing up a lot of phlegm and sputum, ( sorry for the gross out ) which is expected and normal for this type of procedure. I still have little crackles and pops in my ear, again to be expected. Physically I feel great otherwise. Slept a lot when I returned home Friday. Doctor Undavia was pleased with the outcome and expects this will solve my problem long term.
Will see him in 2 weeks for follow up. A word about the facility. All of the staff at DelCo Memorial Hospital were warm and accomodating. From the admissions clerk, all nurses, aides, and doctors, to the guy who wheel chaired me to the front door I was made to feel compleletely at ease and lost all my pre surgery jitters with their help. It means a lot believe me ! I would also like to thank my loving wife and daughter for their patience, care and the love they showed me throughout this entire 16 month ordeal. They are the best and I am a very lucky man to have them in my life. Thanks to all of my friends who sent out the "positive energy" I asked for, and also to all of you here who've been following my journey and for your thoughts and well wishes, I will post again after my follow up visit with Doc. I hope all of you who are suffering from this find some peace and relief as I did ! Don't give up or give in.There is always hope....and hope is a good thing .....maybe the best of things.......

Ihr Arzt sagte eine Woche Entzündung? Ich hatte die Dilatation im März. Dr. Weeks hat meine gemacht in San Diego, er sagte 6-8 Wochen.

Hatten Sie vor der Operation ein Völlegefühl? Sollte das Knacken und Knirschen ganz aufhören? Ich freue mich so, dass Sie Erleichterung gefunden haben! Ich leide seit 8 Monaten, ich bin unglücklich und es hat mein Leben übernommen! Ich bete, dass ich bei einem Arztbesuch später in diesem Monat Antworten bekomme.
Froh, dass die Operation gut verlaufen ist und hoffe, dass du bald Frieden findest!!

I just woke up from my surgery. Definitely feeling the sore throat and a bit of blood in my nose but apart from that ok. Still have the same clicking noise in my ears.
Not sure if the clicking is meant to go immediately after surgery or takes a while?
How are you going/feeling?

5 days since surgery. Feeling good. Still litlle cracks and pops occasionally, nowhere near like pre op. I feel less and less fullness on the right side of my head every a.m. when i wake up, which I'm taking as a good sign. Not sure how long entire healing process will take should have more info for you after I see Doc on 7/20/2017. Hope all of you are doing well and I'll post an update on or around 7/20/2017. Thanks again for all your concern.

Hi Diana had the balloon procedure done yesterday morning in forth worth texas, my left ear which was my worst ear has no pops or clicks which is great but my right ear still cracks and pops especially when I eat or lay down. should that go away in a few days? Also I could do the valsalva (pop my ears) before the procedure and now I can't! should that get better in time? just want it all gone as I'm sure you can imagine
Froh zu hören, dass es besser ist. Mir wurde gesagt, dass ich nach der Operation nicht den Valsalva-Manöver durchführen soll, um meine Ohren zu öffnen. Ich werde es auch nie wieder tun. Ich glaube, ich habe meine Tuben nur gereizt, indem ich es ständig vor der Operation gemacht habe. Als ich die Operation hatte, dauerte es ein paar Wochen, bis das Knacken, Klicken und manchmal Quietschen nachließ. Manchmal fühlte sich ein Ohr voll an. Aber ich habe es einfach ignoriert und meinem Körper die Zeit gegeben, sich darum zu kümmern. Ich würde auch anderen, die diese Operation hatten, raten, nicht nur mit dem Valsalva-Manöver aufzuhören, sondern auch Dinge wie laute Konzerte oder Kopfhörer zu vermeiden. Ich habe festgestellt, dass es alles schlimmer gemacht hat. Sei geduldig. Hoffentlich wird dein Körper übernehmen und sich selbst heilen.
Hi Diana thanks for the reply. If you don't mind I've got a few more questions. I'm staying in forth worth texas for 2 weeks had the balloon dialation but now I can't pop my ears should i be okay to fly home without tubes in my ear I've got a 10 hour flight home.
Ich bin ein paar Tage später geflogen. Ich glaube nicht, dass das einen Unterschied macht. Vielleicht werden sie während des Fluges platzen. Ich wünschte, ich hätte mehr Antworten. Ich weiß nur, dass es ein paar Wochen gedauert hat, also keine Panik. Lass einfach deinen Körper das tun, was er tun soll. Ich sollte noch hinzufügen: Kein starkes Schnäuzen. Das habe ich direkt nach der Operation gemacht und mir die Ohren verstopft. Sie sind einfach so kleine, knifflige Dinge. Bitte halten Sie uns auf dem Laufenden und versuchen Sie, sich zu entspannen und positiv zu bleiben. Ich weiß, leichter gesagt als getan.
It's such a relief to have your advice. I was getting worried as I've read stories where people have said they had instant relief. I'm just stressed because it feels like my right ear hasn't got any better..did yours feel like that before u started to see improvements?!
Ich hatte sofortige Erleichterung für ein paar Tage. Seltsame Geräusche, aber sofortige Erleichterung, dann würden sie in den nächsten Wochen öffnen und schließen und eine Menge seltsame Dinge tun. Ich begann in Panik zu geraten....aber ich habe mich einfach entspannt und mir gesagt, dass ich repariert bin, und einfach geduldig sein sollte. Dr. Weeks war meine Stärke dabei, da ich einer der Ersten war, der das hatte....also, für mich, würde ich einfach geduldig sein und sie nicht zwangsweise öffnen.....es hat bei mir funktioniert und ich hoffe, es funktioniert auch bei dir!!!

I really hope you are still on this site. I have had the balloon dilation of ET done 6 weeks ago along with sinus surgery and it seems like it gets better but then goes back to bad. My main concern is the constant wooziness I feel. It is destroying my life litterally. How long did it take for your ears to open up?
Meine Genesung könnte etwas anders sein, weil ich zuerst eine Nasenoperation hatte, davon geheilt bin und dann meine E-Tubes machen ließ. Du hast vieles auf einmal zu heilen! Mit meinen Tubes öffneten sie sich sofort und blieben für ein paar Tage perfekt offen, dann öffneten und schlossen sie sich für die nächsten zwei bis drei Monate, knackten und quietschten. Ich nahm es so hin, dass sie wieder lernen mussten, sich zu öffnen und zu schließen. Ich habe nie versucht, sie gewaltsam zu öffnen, sondern ihnen nur Zeit zum Heilen gegeben, und irgendwann verschwanden die Geräusche und sie blieben offen. Ich bin mir nicht sicher wegen des Schwindelgefühls, aber ich weiß, dass die Rückkehr zur Normalität nach meiner Nasenoperation viel schlimmer war als nach der E-Tube-Operation. Versuche, dir etwas Zeit zu geben... du hast viel durchgemacht!
Haven't posted in a while. My life is back in the crapper. Symptoms are back with a vengeance. Some days are so bad all I can do is lie down and sleep for my only source of relief. Still on the Xanax regimen and I'm reaching out to doctor who performed my surgery ( Dr. Undavia ) out side of Philadelphia last July, in June of 2018 for a reevaluation and possible 2nd attempt at surgery I'll keep you posted on any progress. So disappointed and depressed that 1st surgery was unsuccessful Doc say that a 2nd surgeries seem to be successful after a first one fails So hope against hope, I'm willing to give it another try. keep your fingers crossed.
