Hello all !!!
As some of you know, I had my surgery ( Balloon dilation of the Eustachian tube ) on Friday 7/7/2017. I was under general anesthesia ( pleasant experience ) and the procedure took about 20 minutes. Some observations. Procedure was painless post op except for the soreness in my throat which usually occurs when you are intubated as I was. Chewed a lot of ice chips the past few days. Almost back to normal. As my doctor told me post op, I do have a feeling of fullness which should last a week or so as the swelling subsides. I am quite congested as a result of the anesthesia and the fact that my E tubes we stretched to capacity. Coughing up a lot of phlegm and sputum, ( sorry for the gross out ) which is expected and normal for this type of procedure. I still have little crackles and pops in my ear, again to be expected. Physically I feel great otherwise. Slept a lot when I returned home Friday. Doctor Undavia was pleased with the outcome and expects this will solve my problem long term.
Will see him in 2 weeks for follow up. A word about the facility. All of the staff at DelCo Memorial Hospital were warm and accomodating. From the admissions clerk, all nurses, aides, and doctors, to the guy who wheel chaired me to the front door I was made to feel compleletely at ease and lost all my pre surgery jitters with their help. It means a lot believe me ! I would also like to thank my loving wife and daughter for their patience, care and the love they showed me throughout this entire 16 month ordeal. They are the best and I am a very lucky man to have them in my life. Thanks to all of my friends who sent out the "positive energy" I asked for, and also to all of you here who've been following my journey and for your thoughts and well wishes, I will post again after my follow up visit with Doc. I hope all of you who are suffering from this find some peace and relief as I did ! Don't give up or give in.There is always hope....and hope is a good thing .....maybe the best of things.......

Seu médico disse 1 semana de inflamação? Eu fiz a dilatação em março. O Dr. Weeks fez a minha em San Diego, ele me disse 6-8 semanas.

Você já sentiu a sensação de plenitude antes da cirurgia? Também o estalido e o estalo devem parar completamente? Fico tão feliz que você tenha encontrado alívio! Estou sofrendo há 8 meses agora, estou miserável e isso tomou conta da minha vida! Rezo para que eu obtenha respostas em uma consulta médica este mês.

I just woke up from my surgery. Definitely feeling the sore throat and a bit of blood in my nose but apart from that ok. Still have the same clicking noise in my ears.
Not sure if the clicking is meant to go immediately after surgery or takes a while?
How are you going/feeling?

5 days since surgery. Feeling good. Still litlle cracks and pops occasionally, nowhere near like pre op. I feel less and less fullness on the right side of my head every a.m. when i wake up, which I'm taking as a good sign. Not sure how long entire healing process will take should have more info for you after I see Doc on 7/20/2017. Hope all of you are doing well and I'll post an update on or around 7/20/2017. Thanks again for all your concern.

Hi Diana had the balloon procedure done yesterday morning in forth worth texas, my left ear which was my worst ear has no pops or clicks which is great but my right ear still cracks and pops especially when I eat or lay down. should that go away in a few days? Also I could do the valsalva (pop my ears) before the procedure and now I can't! should that get better in time? just want it all gone as I'm sure you can imagine
Fico feliz em saber que está melhor. Fui informado para não fazer o manobra de Valsalva para desentupir os ouvidos após a cirurgia. Nem mesmo farei isso novamente. Acredito que estava apenas irritando meus tubos fazendo isso constantemente antes da cirurgia. Quando fiz a cirurgia, levou algumas semanas para que todo o estalido, o clique e, às vezes, o apito cessassem. Às vezes, um ouvido parecia cheio. Mas eu apenas ignorei e deixei meu corpo cuidar disso. Também diria aos outros que fizeram essa cirurgia para não apenas parar com a manobra de Valsalva, mas também para evitar coisas como shows barulhentos ou fones de ouvido. Descobri que isso piorava a situação. Tenha paciência. Espero que seu corpo assuma o controle e se cure sozinho.
Hi Diana thanks for the reply. If you don't mind I've got a few more questions. I'm staying in forth worth texas for 2 weeks had the balloon dialation but now I can't pop my ears should i be okay to fly home without tubes in my ear I've got a 10 hour flight home.
Eu voei alguns dias depois. Não acho que faça diferença. Talvez eles apareçam durante o voo. Eu gostaria de ter mais respostas. Eu só sei que levou algumas semanas, então não entre em pânico. Apenas deixe seu corpo fazer o que deve fazer. Eu deveria adicionar. Também não sopre o nariz com força. Eu fiz isso logo após a cirurgia e entopei meus ouvidos por um tempo. Eles são apenas coisas tão complicadas. Por favor, mantenha-nos informados e tente relaxar e ficar positivo. Eu sei que é mais fácil falar do que fazer.
It's such a relief to have your advice. I was getting worried as I've read stories where people have said they had instant relief. I'm just stressed because it feels like my right ear hasn't got any better..did yours feel like that before u started to see improvements?!
Tive alívio instantâneo por alguns dias. Sons estranhos, mas alívio instantâneo, depois nas próximas semanas eles abririam e fechariam e fariam muitas coisas estranhas. Comecei a entrar em pânico....mas apenas relaxei e disse a mim mesmo, que eu estava consertado, e para apenas ter paciência. O Dr. Weeks foi minha força durante isso, já que fui um dos primeiros a ter isso....então, para mim, eu apenas teria paciência e não tentaria forçá-los a abrir.....funcionou para mim e espero que funcione para você!!!

I really hope you are still on this site. I have had the balloon dilation of ET done 6 weeks ago along with sinus surgery and it seems like it gets better but then goes back to bad. My main concern is the constant wooziness I feel. It is destroying my life litterally. How long did it take for your ears to open up?
Minha recuperação pode ser um pouco diferente porque primeiro fiz uma cirurgia no seio da face, me recuperei disso, depois fiz meus tubos. Você tem muito para se recuperar de uma vez! Com meus tubos, eles se abriram instantaneamente e ficaram perfeitamente abertos por alguns dias, depois, nos próximos dois a três meses, eles se abriam e fechavam, estalavam e guinchavam. Achei que estavam aprendendo a abrir e fechar novamente. Nunca tentei forçá-los a abrir, mas deixei que se curassem, e eventualmente os ruídos desapareceram e eles ficaram abertos. Não tenho certeza sobre a sensação de tontura, mas sei que voltar ao normal após minha cirurgia no seio da face foi muito pior do que a cirurgia dos tubos. Tente dar um tempo a si mesma... você passou por muito!
Haven't posted in a while. My life is back in the crapper. Symptoms are back with a vengeance. Some days are so bad all I can do is lie down and sleep for my only source of relief. Still on the Xanax regimen and I'm reaching out to doctor who performed my surgery ( Dr. Undavia ) out side of Philadelphia last July, in June of 2018 for a reevaluation and possible 2nd attempt at surgery I'll keep you posted on any progress. So disappointed and depressed that 1st surgery was unsuccessful Doc say that a 2nd surgeries seem to be successful after a first one fails So hope against hope, I'm willing to give it another try. keep your fingers crossed.
