Thank you so much for that EileeH.It's what I thought it was.I have ETD & one of the correspondents I have tells me her GP prescribed it as an option for her.My GP disagrees totally.
Eustachian tube dysfunction? Steroid nasal sprays are commonly used for it.

mentions using oral steroids under "Management": "Decongestants, antihistamines, nasal or oral corticosteroids which are aimed at reducing nasal congestion and/or inflammation of the lining of the Eustachian tube."
Show your GP the reference or find another and ask them.
Hi Michael, prednisolone is a corticosteroid, they are probably the most effective anti inflammatory on earth. Some doctors seem to be frightened of them as they have quite a lot of side effects although that does not mean that you will get any at all.

Nos has dado muy poca información sobre ti mismo. ¿Tu edad y POR QUÉ necesitas saber para qué se usa esto? ¿Tienes un problema médico o solo eres curioso?
Just to put the other side of the fence: I have none of these side effects and pred keeps me able to function.

Thankyou Eileen.My ETD seems to be somewhat different from almost everyone else.Thankfully I have no pain at all.When I get up in the morning everything is absolutely normal.After about ten minutes My head feels as if it's been filled with air & the pressure is very high & oppresive.The hearing volume isn't a problem but the clarity of sound is far from what it should be.Watching television without subtitles is quite difficult & hearing a public address system is impossible.It's just garbled noise & impossible for me to decipher.
Please don't tell me I'm better off than many others.I'vebeen told many times.It doesn't help.
Not something you will hear from me Michael. I'd have thought someone might consider surgery - and your GP certainly needs to refer you to someone who WILL come up with something to improve your quality of life.

Pred. has various uses. I can only discuss its use in my case. I first was prescribed pred. for a painful condition called polymyalgia rheumatica. It cleared that up rather quickly, though I needed to stay on a very low dose for severall months. Then I developed chillblains, and pred. relieved that, again with a low dose. (Note that in both cases I began with a "declining dosage" and continued with 5 mg or less).
Now I am taking a 5 mg maintanance dose, which myu doctor assures me will not lead to untoward side effects. This is for mylodysplasia, a blood disorder which could lead to leukemia. it seems to be preventing the advance of the condition.
