PREGABLIN/LYRICA

Hi I'm new to the forum.   Has anyone been prescribed Pregablin/Lyrica for their anxiety?  If so I would love to hear of your experience with this medication.  I tried it about six months ago but decided to come off it due to the lethargy and sedation especially in the mornings.  Yesterday my Psychhiatrist has asked me to try the med again, I agreed.  Started yesterday on low dosage 25mg twice a day.  Side effects today are horrid.  Would be grateful for any comments,  Thanks

Hello yvonne.

I was prescribed pregab over a year ago.I had a diagnosis of schizoprenia, which i have always disputed to no avail, & suffering with anxiety & panic attacks.

After 18 years of fighting my corner i finally had advice to change my gp automatically get another team with a new psych.I did this & complained to my new psych that the head pain I was suffering was not being dealt with by taking olanzapine as that is a anti-psychotic & absolutely no good for neuropathic pain & anxiety.

I can honestly say i have never had any problems taking pregab & it has made a world of difference to me since. Now my only complaint is why my previous two psych's ignored me & left me to suffer due to their arrogance & lack of compassion.

As for side effects i can tell you I have never experienced any & that includes drowsyness or weight increase opposed to olanzapine.

If anything pregab has quite a short acting effect & instead of one tab a day, usually at night, I have to take 3 or 4 doses of 150mg per day but this is better than suffering constant head shocks/brain zapps.

In respect of anxiety & panic attacks, I don't really suffer them anymore so to me it's as good as it will get.

Pregabalin is the prefered med than it's predecessor gabapentin & is used for at least 4 conditions & is an anti-epilepsy drug.

I don't know why you are suffering such bad side effects & I am wondering if you are taking anything else with them.

I hope I have been of help to you & if I can be of any more help feel free to ask me & I will do my best to help, or you can ask you pharmacist or doctor to try & answer question regarding your side effects.

I wish you all the best.

Regards.

YOD   Thank you so much for your long and detailed reply. I'm really pleased to hear that the Pregablin works well for you.  I have read lots of patient reviews on the med and all seem very positive.  I am taking Venlafaxine and Mirtazepine together for my stubborn depression and high anxiety levels,   I think I mentioned in my first post that I did try Pregablin some months ago and I came off it due to the severe drowsiness in the mornings.    Since taking it yesterday I have had a headache which I just cannot shift no matter how much Paracetemol I take.  Last night and this morning had very bad blurred vision, which when suffering anxiety just makes you feel so much worse.  I've decided that I'm going to delay taking the Pregablin until after Christmas.  I feel bad enough as it is without adding side effects of a new med to the m ix.  I need to function to a degree ove Christmas and I just can't be feeling like a zombie. I will start the med again after Christmas and see how I go with it.   As I said I've read so many positive posts from people suffering bad anxiety - and so I would like to be able to tolerate this medication.  Once again thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my post - I appreciate it very much.

Your welcome.I might add i was prescribed mitrazapine but i only took it for 4 days because it made me feel worse.I know mitraz & pregab are safe in combination but i'm not sure about the Velataxine.
