After a bad anxiety episode at work in which I threw up in the bathroom, I decided to go on Prozac. I haven’t been to work since April and it’s been demoralising. I’ve struggled since late 2019 with health anxiety, fuelled by my OCD as well as anxiety attacks, death anxiety, agoraphobia and fears about current events. At the start of this year I had gotten out of the worst spiral I had in a while so by May I was considering prozac and was finally prescribed it in June. I’m on 20mg since June 12th. The first week was the roughest, with side effects feeling like a mix of seasickness and the flu. Second week was better but still wobbly and third week was okay. But I’m on my 28 day streak now and today my nausea came back, I started shaking and because I was in the garden all day I really felt the heat. I know I shouldn’t be looking up symptoms but apparently SSRIs give you heat intolerance, although I’ve never had this problem on citalopram or escitalopram or even sertraline which I was on as a teenager. I also vomited some of my food and had very little appetite for the rest of the day. I’m tired, jittery, have a sense of doom and keep worrying about my stomach.
I’m 27 years old, don’t have any physical underlying health conditions, have had my bloods done a few years back and yet I wake up every day worrying I’m dying of something and go to bed worrying I’ll die in my sleep. I have false memory OCD which causes me to fear accidentally consuming things I shouldn’t and being scared I did so absentmindedly. I should be a woman with a career and yet I feel so sick everyday and going out of the house without a relative seems impossible.
I really wanted to be better in time for summer but I feel like it’s only now in the activation stage. I’m worried this will just keep going for the next 4 weeks if my anxiety is still doing this 28 days in. I’ve been on a waiting list for therapy since March and it’s getting harder to cope with everything I feel.
