Pulsatile Tinnitus after ear infection/ruptured ear drum

I had an ear infection back in April and after going abroad the pressure in the plane upon landing caused me to have ruptured eardrums in both ears. These took around 2 months to heal but for the past few months I seem to have pulsatile tinnitus in my left ear. This doesn’t seem to be matching my pulse but the ENT has did this can be irregular. These beats usually occur after waking and then last for all the morning and usually most of the afternoon. They are usually 1 beat then 20, 30 secs before another. I think they can also seem to be caused by yawning and burping too. The ENT didn’t offer much in terms of advice or help on this only to suggest booking up another appointment if symptoms worsen.

After a cursory search online on symptoms other alternatives to Pulsatile Tinnitus seem to be

Middle ear myoclonus
Stapedius muscle spasms
Tensor tympani myoclonus
Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) problems.

Has anyone had anything like this following an ear infection/perforated ear drum and how did you learn to deal with it or did it resolve by itself after some time?

I’ve had an inner ear infection and a wide range of symptoms from it, for awhile I’d get episodes of hearing My pulse, or a beating sound. But these were all normal symptoms from this infection. Since then they have disappeared over time but other symptoms are taking longer to go.

Thank you for your reply. I am glad to hear the beating feeling did not persist too much for you. My ear infection was a few months ago now although I did have a perforated ear drum as well which may have caused its own issues. Did you have any sensitivity to sounds at all and was there anything in particular which seemed to set the beats off?
