questions regarding girlfriend's possible herpes infection

I think a backstory is best to start this. On July 3rd, my girlfriend and I had a sexual experience with a third partner, who is also good friends with my gf. In a terrible judgement call, we did not use protection. We found out later that she has herpes but was unaware she could spread it without an outbreak.

Cut to earlier this week, I notice some sores down there and get tested. The swab test came back positive for hsv-2.

Also, shortly after this experience, my gf started to have symptoms of a yeast infection, which she has suffered from in the past. The difference this time is that there is a strong odor, and sex has been too painful for her. There are no visible sores, though.

Anyways, my gf left to travel abroad on the 14th and won't be back until the 25th. She won't be able to get tested until she gets back. My question is, since her condition seems to be improving, a swab test might not be accurate after so much time has passed. Would it be better to wait to get tested until she experiences another outbreak? Would a blood test be the best option? I've read that igm tests might not be the most accurate. I've also read that it could still be too early for her to take an igg test. What do you think the best option would be here? Thanks!

To clarify, my gf and I had unprotected sex a few times after I had been infected (but before knowing I was infected and before an obvious outbreak). We we're also unaware that the third party had it until very recently, or else we would have been tested much sooner.

From what I've read, I believe it would be better to wait, as you said, the test probably won't show anything because it's too recent. After some time, if she doesn't suffer another outbreak, then she could consider taking a blood test.

Until there, you guys need to take some precautions. Taking antivirals, using condoms and not having sex during outbreaks can reduce a lot the risk of transmission, even when the virus is shedding.

I don't know if I'm allowed to post this link here, but this should help:

The IgM test is useless, so just do the IgG test at 3+ months. If she has anything that resembles an outbreak, get it swabbed asap (accuracy diminishes the longer the sores are present and begin to heal).
