Ranitidine makes heart burn worse?

A little backstory: in August I began having horrible stomach cramps and an abdominal bulge that several doctors never identified. I began having a cold feeling in my chest and stomach, then a lump in my throat. I went to an ENT walk-in clinic and they told me to take Zantac.

It's been two months of 150mg of Zantac everyday, some days requiring 300mg. Since taking the Zantac though I have had sternum pain and actual burning feeling in my chest. Is it possible that Zantac is causing me to have heartburn?

I'm not sure if this helps lol. But I take ranitidine & it cure if fast. It takes at least 2 weeks from antiacids to get in your system which you are probably already aware of. It could be that the medication had a "paradox" effect. It's when certain medicines you take cause an opposite effect. Like when i first took Zoloft, i was crying a lot for no reason but it's an "antidepressant". Not sure if this is your case or not cause I'm obviously not a doctor. But I would look into getting another antiacid med to see if that works. Of not see a doctor & talk about your problem so they can give you suggestions.

Hope it helps! Good luck.

Hi.

It seems yr medication isnt effective for u. See yr doctor for other meds.

I had to change 3 times to find some relief.

Do not ignore the burning. Also make life style changes as they help the most.

Hi hallie,

If you are having acid reflux, not sure if you should be taking any antidepressant, I am a patient too, I saw and article in chinese website few years back saying if just relax our sphincter more and making it worse,

Acid reflux symptoms and chronic fatigue syndrome seems to cross each other and difficult to diagnose. I have been given antidepressant when it started and it really was horrible experience. Just a thought.
