Seltene Diagnose

Hi ladies, moved over to this discussion from ovarian cyst forum.  Had 'ovarian cyst' and tube removed 8 weeks ago however, histology found a serous (that's what its called not serious as I first thought!) borderline tumour inside my fallopian tube.  My consultant and Trust pathologist said very rare never seen anything like that in their careers.  So I am asking in the vain hope somebody else may have had that? I have been told it is borderline so not cancerous but I am having a hysterectomy in a few weeks as the MDT team advised me just in case there was anyting else now or in the future.   One more thing, why did I need a chest x ray and ecg for this pre op, didn't have that for my cyst op?  I am 50.  any help, advice much appreciated.

Hi Kellers,

My cyst was a Serous Cystadenofibroma which was thankfully benign but I googled it cos I'd never heard of one before and it said it was very rare.😳  Is this what you had?

Hi Janet, all they told me was a borderline serous tumour - but could be the same.  I think the rare bit for me is the fact it was actually inside the fallopian tube which they had never seen before.  Have googled mine and hardly any mention of this in the tube. Did you have to have hysterectomy?

Oh mine was on my ovary I think.   I got my results in a letter just over two weeks after my operation so that's how I remember the long name    I haven't had any follow up appointments at all but I seem to be fine.  Well I knew I was having an hysterectomy before I had my operation and I was quite happy with it because I have no more worries of cysts or cervical smears now 😊.  I had a large cyst when I was 28  at the end of my first pregnancy and had my left ovary and tube out then.

Glad to hear all OK with your Janet.  Obvioulsy hoping once I have the op that will be the end of it.  xx
