BPH diagnosticado recentemente e Tamsulosina

Hi Recently diagnosed with BPH - Tamsulosin working pretty well. Has anyone had side effects?

Different people have different reaction. Mine became noticeable after a few days (vision changes) and fully manifested in 5-6 months.

Tamsulosin has many side effects but the one that men complain about the most is decrease ejaculation or retro ejaculation ( None at all )

It will effect all men different

Ken

Hi

I have had vision changes - more difficult to read close up

I could pee more easily after about an hour

I don't think it works as well as it did though

Thankfully I have not experienced this

Then you are one of the lucky one. Take care.....Ken

Thanks Ken

I took it and it made me feel out of touch with reality . All my senses felt dulled or altered .

I stopped taking it . It matters not now as I had TURP and have got my life back .

Jay I wish you well .

Doesn't sound good at all. I seem to be able to empty my bladder most of the time now although I have a job that involves driving a lot, often in long traffic queues - I still have problems dealing with that - not sure what is for the best to be honest with you

Were you holding large volumes?

If it involves a lot of driving, do talk to your doctor about it. Tamsulosin has a lot of unwanted side-effects such as dizziness, retro-ejaculation, low energy.

I had to self catheterise for 10 weeks before my Turp operation as my prostate had virtually shut my bladder off....My doctor suggested Tamsulosin but I decided it was of no benefit for me in my situation , as I was already booked in for the TURP operation any way , plus with the side effects it was giving me . So I stopped taking it completely .

As others have said however , some men take it with no bad effects so why not monitor things yourself and decide .

In the long run though it appears to me that in many circumstances it is better or actually necessary eventually , to have an operation to open up the prostate if it is that causing the restricted flow .

Jay if I can be of any help or if you may have more questions you are welcome to message me .

Hey Buddy

Can I ask you why a Turp and which type are you going to have. Is the doctor going to do ejaculation sparing so you will not lose it or is that not a problem.

The way you are explaining it it sounds like you had a median lobe. Why not just have a mini Turp and just get rid of that.

There are other procedure that will work and do not cause that problems. But that is up to your going to have to deal with the out come

Good luck....Ken

Jay, If you are under 80, work and drive a lot - then IMHO you can't rely on Tamsulosin in the long run. Depending on the size and shape of your prostate, you may need to start thinking about surgery before it gets worse or you have a retention. Get an MRI to better assess your prostate and the probability of cancer. You may try other alpha-blockers or Cialis but they all come with side-effects which doctors forget to mention.

I was prescribed Tamsulosin but it gave me heart palpitations so was taken off it now take Doxasozin instead. initially had hypotension with that too but meds adjusted and it has been fine since. no other side effects. can pee easier but prostate is getting bigger.

Hello Ken is your message for me..?

I had TURP two years ago and I am happy with it.

That is all that matters Hope it stays that way....Ken

Thanks I have a feeling it will. My brother had it 15 years ago and is fine .

Geoff

Hi Jay, how did your TURP suit you? The urologist at Kettering hospital is keen to give me one but I am reluctant. I've heard many sad stories about it.

Hey Chris

A Turp is not for everyone and they do have different ones that can be done. You are the one that will have to deal with the side effect

Chris how old are you and are you concerned with sex. I'm talking about erections and retro ejaculation With any procedure you have to ask that question.

You have many Turps that can be done and also they have a Ejaculation Sparing Turp. Most doctors will not to it because it takes more time because they have to watch what tissue they remove.

You have to ask yourself the hard questions What are you willing to give up

Good luck....Ken
