Hi there,
almost 4 months ago I had sinus surgery but I still didn't recover from it. It was made to fix the mess I was left with after previous surgery (scars and adhesions). I am dealing with chronic sinusitis for few years.
Doctor that made the surgery told me that in my case it can take up to three months for my sinuses to heal completely... For the first weeks I was getting better really quickly and was almost sure that problems with my sinuses will be finally over. My doctor was also satisfied with the result of the surgery. Unfortunately after two months healing process drasticly slowed down.
Due to the fact that I had the surgery far away from home it is not easy to contact with the doctor. And I don't trust doctors in my current place of residence (that I am going to visit anyway).
Do you know how I can speed up healing process?
I still feel pain and burning of my sinuses exits. They are hardened and thick. Esecially around the place where the surgery was mainly performed. Burning also increases when I put my glasses on. I feel that inflammation of my sinuses is caused by scars that did not heal yet because I did not have this type of feelings before the surgery. I don't produce much mucus.
Despite substantial improvement I still feel tiredness and strong mental fatigue. Even writing this post is an effort for me. And probably as many of you I also don't feel understood by people around me (even my family...) what is very depressing...
Is there anything I can do? My situation is improving but extremely slowly...
Thanks
Katz, I hate that you're going through all this.
I only know that I have congestion, but not a runny nose. Eight years ago I had my uvula removed. I guess it has something to do with that. I wonder if anybody else has had that experience.
Hi Katz,
the post op fatigue is very real. If it helps, there is a blog called "Running in a skirt" and the author mentioned this same fatigue that lasts for a while. Hang in there. I am 2 months post op myself and in the afternoons I get very tired and require a lie down. I think we need a lot of patience to wait it out. hang in there. I find looking back and remembering things I couldn't do a week earlier helps me to handle the waiting better. i read in many personal testimonials that complete healing can take 6-12 months. Hang in there.
Thank you for your kind words. I am not giving up. Just want to speed things up and finally get back to normal life. I am currently looking for a job and even thinkig about job interview in my condition is making me nervous...
))
Hopefully it is slowly but consequently improving.
Thanks! I am no the one. I didn't do anything with my uvula...
What kind of sinus surgery did you have? My husband is scheduled for the balloon sinuplasty that is done in the office. It has been around for 10 years and is suppose to give 95% relief of chronic sinusitis.
It wasn’t balloon sinuplasty.
Ps. I am getting better and better. And becoming optimistic about the final result.
Hi Katz,
Good to hear you are getting better and better! It sure seems to me that nasal surgery really takes longer time for recovery. So people’s estimate of 6 months recovery isn’t that far off. Cheers!
In my case it’s gonne take even more then 6 months...
I have heard with balloon sinuplasty the recovery time is almost nothing!
I am not sure but what I've read is that balloon sinuplasty is not always successful... On the other hand it is rather not so risky. But every case is different so I do not want to give an opinion. And I am not a specialist...
