Rectocele and Rectal prolapse

Is anyone experiencing rectal prolapse with a rectocele as I believe thats what my symptoms are as now know that what I feel is not hemroids.

So far I had a cystocele and rectocele both grade confirmed but not the rectal prolapse . Everything  I feel points to a rectal prolapse.

Yes i had a bladder, vagina and rectum prolapse, had surgery 2 months ago

What symptoms did you have for the rectal prolapse. I have a feeling of something dropping down and not being able to sit properly plus my tail bone is very sensitive and feels like it’s swollen.

I really had no symptoms, there were times i would get stabbing pains, but really that was all..dr said it had just started, so well was in there she fixed it..

I’m hoping mine can be fixed sooner rather than later.

Yes get it fixed, i had all 3 done at once. Rectum, vagina, and bladder!! The surgery was nothing, but the recovery is ruff!! Just take it easy, and be patient! This page has helped me a lot!!!

Good luck!!! Let me know how it goes!!

Do you mean that your rectum has prolapsed through the anus? Rectocele is when the rectum prolapses down through the vaginal opening as far as I know. I've had repairs for rectocele, cystocele, (bladder) and vaginal vault prolapse but rectal prolapse so far.

Yes I have cystocele and rectocele, and also think my rectum is prolapsing through anus.  Hemroids have been ruled out. I haven’t been able to sit properly for about nine months now and my tailbone hurts as well now. Not sure if there is a connection to prolapses or just from the way I’m sitting.

I hope you've got an appointment with colorectal surgeon to get a correct diagnosis. Did your gynae surgeon say what your problem was or has this developed recently? You need to see a specialist soon as poss I think. Ask for referral if you've not already done so. Best wishes, Poll UKrolleyes

I have just has a colonoscopy which my GP refered me for to rule out other matters.  I’m due to visit her again now I’ve had it to see where we go next.  She has said she thinks it’s connected to prolapse.

Hi, I suspect the same thing for myself. My urogyn specialist said they don't touch the back and a colorectal surgeon doesn't touch the front, and she didn't think I had a rectal prolapse. I elected to go forward with surgery with her to see if the rectocele repair would fix my problemas. The TVT (bladder sling) worked great and fixed my urinary incontinence. The rectocele repair has been a beast to recover from. It seems to have made the anal protrusion worse. From what I've gathered on the net, if you have a rectal prolapse or partial prolapse, that can contribute to the rectocele as the added bulk/weight of the unsupported rectum pushes against the weakened perineal tissues. And I've also read that the rectocele repair will eventually fail if the prolapse isn't addressed, bc that pressure on the back wall of the vagina will still be there. Anyway, I haven't seen anyone else post about this, but I am having the same problem and possibly looking at a second surgery in a few months. Please let me know how your story goes, I would love to hear about it!
