Red meat x inflammation

I just eat red meat now and then - avoid eating it regularly because it does not help the inflammation, just the opposite.

What is your experience on that matter?

Inflammation associated with PMR and bloating more associated with Prednisone are two familiar outcomes from this disease.  To counter both, my wife has kept me on a strict, anti-inflammatory diet.  It has held my weight entirely in check.  As to the inflammation, I drink tart cherry juice, and eat a range of anti-inflammatory foods such as avocado.  There is a lot of content on the web about anti-inflammatory diets.  The real question is whether one has the discipline to follow.  I don't so my wife controls the keys.

Overall, hard to say whether the anti-inflammatory food items really work, but I am trying just about everything to get an edge up on PMR.  Recently, I have gone Gluten free, again to try something different.

Hi

I had a beef roast yesterday with my family we haven't had them all over since christmas and today I feel terible. My whole body feels inflammed my hands are shaking I havn't feel this bad since ealry Dec. I will not be doing that again for a long time, I will make fish next time. Its hard to beleive that red meat can cause so many problems. I hope today will be a better day. I wish I knew of some ting that well help me get back to felling before I ate the roast

Thank you for your reply. Each and everyone of us has a different approach regarding our diet. We are all different.

Thanks DAniel, I too a considring gluten free; however, i am reluctant to try it until i can form an opinion on my jucing journey.  I would like to hear about your experience of gluten free re:  PMR

I love red meat! But i am staying away from it and trying to concentrate on fish and jucing...

Thank you Arden for your reply!

Using my one quart and a half Crock Pot I prepared a roast yesterday after quite some time eating red meat.

I know it is not on the list of good food for inflammation however I am not having any bad symptom today after the delicious dinner I had yesterday.

Based on your symptoms as you describe you better really to avoid it.

Thank you for your reply to my discussion.

I do the same as you, Margo , I am stuck on fish - wild, not farm raised and chicken without the skin,

Avocado, fresh ginger, turmeric , cinnamon, etc

This is my food plan too.  When eating out, i had a chopped salad with grilled chicken, oil and vinegar for the dressing;

Exactly the same I do when eating out.

Thank you for your reply!

You get stuck on a strict inflammation diet and those bad symptoms you are having will go away. Eat salad with wedges of navel oranges and slightly roasted almonds ( divided into 4 batches , using a skillet on a burner) for breakfast.

No salt to cook - use herbs instead,

Lots is greens (as kale, broccoli ) , veggies ( I broil them to taste like grilled) , avocado, all berries, papaya, half a banana, Greek yogurt, cheeses...

The unwanted symptoms will go away.

I did not feel anything after my red meat dinner of yesterday though.

Stay well 🌸

I think you are all nuts. I just use commonsense and don't over indulge, I eat all meats, in moderation, I do limit my sweets thou and I'm also no or low sodium; kidneys are stage 4. I want to enjoy the few years I have left, so I don't cut out all the good tasty food; I even drink 2 to 3 Yuenglings a day. Why do you want to deprive yourself, just up the steroids and get going. That's just my opinion.

Agree ! I said I go now and then out of my daily diet. If we totally deprive ourselves of everything we end up craving this and that and when we eat those things we exaggerate....

There are certain food I avoid eating frequently but I eat them sometimes- including carbs, a glass of wine, a piece of chicolste, to name few.

Yes, Jeanne, we are on the same page.😊

xx

I believe in balance.  But that being said I am a vegetarian because I do not want to eat suffering.  As I've said elsewhere I'm not anywhere near perfect - hello - leather belt, leather gloves. cry  But one does what one can.  Perhaps in another time, another place, where animals were respected and treated well before slaughter, it would have been different.

I assume that's the beers not the icecreams? Never heard of them - had to use Mr Google...

I eat veal - because our local veal was born up a mountain and stayed with mum all its short life, drinking milk. Then it was slaughtered calmly by our local butcher. I use milk products and to have those there must be calves. The bull calves are killed at some point - but the ones I eat kept mum happy too.

But for those who can't cope with that thought - that's fine too. Just not for me.

Here is my 2 cents worth. Unfortunately i had gained weight prior to pmr thanks to my husbands cooking and my lack of saying no, so just prior we started my way of cooking and our doctors which is no or reduced carbs, we eat cheese (we should own a cow), cream etc and i love my beef and don't shy away. We both eat eggs daily as my dr. Said have 3 for breakfast not 2.

My husband's cholesterol is now the lowest ever as well as his other levels.

I truly belive if you know your body you will eat what it needs. Prior to this we were doing gluten free pasta and we both felt better but now i use spaghetti squash for pasta. We have both lost weight and need to loose more but we don't feel deprived.

I treat us us some great diabetic chocolate bars and do strawberry parfets for desert with homemade whipping cream and lots of it.😆

I was always low in iron so meat is good for me and i like wild meat like buffalo, moose and deer on occasion however when we are away south i do nothing but fish.

Good luck

Oooh - will have to plan a visit to your neck of the woods too! That's how I eat - but my OH can neither cook nor will eat that sort of food.

For Christmas one of my friends was given a gizmo for making instant whipped cream.  It seems to work on the same principle as a soda siphon, so what you get is just "whipped" or, more accurately, aerated cream, and no chemicals!  I watched her use it, so simple!

Both hubby and i love to cook and would love you to have a reason to come to Toronto, there has to be some symposium here for you to attend.😆

Only problem is you would have to stay longer so we can not only show Toronto but our beautiful cottage county north with awesome white sand beaches and a chilled out relaxed living on our deck up there.

Did my sales pitch work.lol

I wish i could make it west but here is your incentive.
