Regurgitation is a form of GERD, but no matter if I eat or not, I get severe regurgitation when I lay down, and sometimes it’s happened when I’m asleep, which wakes me up so quickly that I sometimes think I’m suffocating, because small amounts of stomach acid had entered my bronchial tubes and started closing, making it sound like I was having a sever asthma attack. An endoscopy saw that my lower esophageal sphincter has been completely destroyed by the constant GERD and regurgitation, and is allowing more acids to rise when laying down, even antacids don’t do the job. What I really need is a manually operated, acid resistant mechanical sphincter that I can control using 2 buttons embedded in my sternum, that I can open when I eat, and close to stop anything coming back up, unless I feel sick of course, but normally ‘nothing’ should come back up, and using a mechanical sphincter, it’ll make sure nothing does.
Is anyone else having this problem, and if so, what did you do to fix it? Baring in mind that the cost to repair the sphincter is around $12,000 too much for my pocket.
