Retrograde ejaculation

Anyone have experience with retrograde ejaculation? Really bad or no big deal?

I took Flowmax for about a year. It caused retrograde ejaculation. I didn’t consider it that big of a deal. After stopping Flowmax ejaculation became normal again.

I had the turps June 2017 and I say it was worth it to me.  I had an experienced surgeon.  I did have some complications an want to blame me a bit, before surgery I said try to go easy and protect my erection and did not want retrograde.  He went in and tried to take as little s possible but that did not work and I was back in surgery 7 days later and a very painful recovery.  I am better now and glad I did it because peeing is better than not peeing for sure.  I am older but still have a active sex life and some does still come out but nothing like before.  I am not having any children I have my 3 and they are in college.  If I were 40 it would a tough call. The pain of not peeing was the key to me.  Good luck.  Make sure you have a good doc that cares about you and not his numbers in the hospital.  My surgeon said to me if he had me as a patient when he was young it may not have come as as well.

Delicate subject.  It is contended (by mostly UROs, it seems) that the orgasm is the same without the "discharge".  But many will contend the discharge is a significant part of the sensation of an orgasm.  I experienced this -- retrograde -- for a time when I was on Flomax and did not like it.  Spouse, too, preferred the visible fireworks of the regular way.  No longer on Flomax.  Hope this helps.

Thanks guys.

No big dea.  Makes an organism slightly less satisfying but not good if you want to have children.  Basically you are infertile.

John,    If your concerned about RE before doing a surgery that might cause it  and want to experience retrograde ejaculation get Flomax from a doctor and take it for a few weeks.  The 0.4 mg dose will cause it but it only lasts for about 6 hours.  If you take the double dose 0.8 mg  the RE will last about 12 hours.

Thomas

Thanks

John.  It all depends on you.  I was on Flomax & Rapaflo.  They both gave me retro.  All I know for me it left me wanting more.  It left me incomplete.  I'm 63 and I know I am not having anymore kids but I like to enjoy myself still.  No doctor is going to tell me I don't need it or all is the same and no more clean up.  Sometimes the clean up is fun to.  Off course some men do not have a change.  But if the doctor is up front with you he will tell you the it does cut it to only a 1/3 of the feeling.  Good luck  That is why I had my Urolift done Ken

John. I don't have Retrograde but when searching for a treatment for BPH I was very concerned about this as I did not want any sexual side effects. The things that concerned me most was where does the semen go when ejaculated and what is the results of the that on the seminal vesicles? I was told by the Uros that the results of Retor was that if the ejaculatory ducts are damaged during a procedure that the semen would simple go into the bladder. After looking at the anatomy of the prostate, that just did not make any sense.

Luckily  I did not have to worry about it as I chose a procedure that did not damage  any of the sexual functions and did fix my BPH symptoms. But I do understand the concern. Right after my procedure my semen output was actually increased and stronger that before the procedure and it felt and looked as it did 30 years ago. Then as time moved along it got weaker and then it increased back to normal as it should be for my age. I never took any of the drugs that caused  the problem.

I take the maximum dose of flomax and retrograde ejaculation is a side effect of it. I was told its really not that bad for you it's just going to come out in your urine which doesn't really bother me. If you're not looking to have a family in the near future then I wouldn't worry about it. I would just bring it up to your GP and maybe a urologist if you want a specialist to answer your question because it shouldn't happen normally for no reason. Is there any reason that you think it might have suddenly come on?

What was "the procedure" you underwent for those results???

What procedure did you have?

I recently had a HOLEP and I have RE. The great thing for me is my BPH is cured. The RE gives me a slightly longer more intense orgasm, I just go with the flow (without any flow if you get my drift) and enjoy it. It saves on tissues and I am just relieved I don't have ED, so is my partner, who hasn't really noticed the difference.

Hope that helps.

Good afternoon Inn  All doctor will tell you it no big deal but not all men are the same.  They are only telling you that because that is what they learn in school.  All men have a orgasm and a ejaculation but not all men have the same orgasm or ejaculation I was on Flomax & Rapaflo.  It sucked.  The built up was there but when the orgasm hit.  It went flat.  I felt nothing. Being I still had a erection I know I did something.  I called my doctor and stopped the pills and had the Urolift 3 weeks later.   That is going on 4 years.   I'm 63 and just because I'm not having kids does not mean I want to stop my ejaculation.  It goes with my orgasm.
