Rezum or HOLEP

Was considering HOLEP in the UK but I now see that REZUM has been approved by NICE. I know some on here have had HOLEP but has anybody had REZUM and if so what was the outcome?

Andy  There are less side effects with Rezum  It is worth looking into  Ken

Rezum didn't work for me at all.  That was two years ago. Last year  I had the PAE in India; it seemed to stop the growth, but didn't get rid of it. I'm planning for the HoLEP next.

If you're not concerned about retro ejaculation (almost certain) and small risk (usually only for few months), than HoLep would be a great choice. Hank

As they  say ' You've tried the rest now have the best'

Why did the first two not work for you?

One of them should have did something.  Are they sure the prostate is the problem  Maybe it's your bladder not the prostate  Take care  Ken

Please search on this website for a thread called "Rezum have you had this done?".

Right now Rezum should, in my opinion, be the first procedure for BPH. That assumes that you have had the appropriate testing to establish that the problem is an enlarged prostate that is cutting off the flow of urine. Rezum works for the majority of patients that have 'typical' BPH problems. And if, for some reason it doesn't work well for a particular reason, it does not preclude getting another procedure done later.

Holep will almost certainly give a patient retrograde ejaculation, and some patients have problems with erections. Rezum, on the other hand, does not give erectile dysfunction, and very few patients will get the retrograde ejaculation.

I mean small risk of incontinence. Hank

I've read in multiple places that HOLEP can improve erections. The one thing that that I like about HOLEP is very little retreatment.
