ROM after hip replacement

lost just about all my ROM years prior to surgery. I am five weeks out now and feel its better but will I be able to put my own socks and shoes on “normally” also I don’t have enough flexibility to get on top during sex, anyone else in my situation that got their ROM back.

Hi tara00003,
I believe the answer is yes, yes, and yes.
I’ve had both hips done about 2 years apart. It will come. Everyone is different. I had to reinvent how I do it but I can do it. In the meantime a long shoe horn can become your best friend. It took me about 3+ months before I was able to start to begin with shoes and socks. I find socks a bit more difficult but I can manage.
Elastic shoe laces (and the ever so helpful long shoe horn) are good as you don’t have to bend and fuss so much with tying. These days you can find really nice laceless shoes and trainers. Be patient it takes time. Things will fall into place.
Good luck.

Hi its going to be a while before you can put your socks back on, i had a double hip replacement 11 weeks ago, and i was advised to to try putting my socks on without an aid for a least 6 months, as for nookie well that ok after say 8 weeks

I agree with the 6 months (maybe more).

hi Tara I found this on the internet re sex positions post hip replacement. near the end of it theres a chart indicating type of surgery and which positions are safe to do.
