I don't like the typical medications prescribed for BPH like Avodart or Tamsulosin. Generally I don't like all Alpha blockers. Cialis it's too expensive but would be ideal. Is there any other medications that will help the symptoms other than the traditional older medication models?

Alfuzosin works better for me than tamsulosin with less chance of floppy iris syndrome.
I’m also on dutasteride (generic for Avodart). It’s only been two months. Thought I was seeing improvement, but recently had a severe UTI, that has set me back considerably. I’ll hang on with the medications for another 4 months (6 month mark), but it’s looking more likely that I will need a procedure for my 100 gm prostate.
Alfuzosin or Rapoflo , which are alpha-blocker of different strength and are generally well tolerated (I use them for 10 years without feeling any side effects) help most. Cialis is good for ED which is often rears it’s ugly head in late stages of BPH. Avodart is very different. It kills some important hormones responsible for libido and erections. In some countries (like US). 5 mg Cialis daily is covered by most insurances as a treatment of BPH, when other fail or are contraindicated. Your URO need to write a letter to the insurance. I get for $30 per month from my greedy HMO. If your prostate is not obstructive and less than 100 g, Uroxatral(Alfuzosin) and Cialis might be your best answer to BPH.

My understanding is that you can’t take Cialis and an alpha blocker at the same time as there would be a synergistic effect in lowering blood pressure. Did you take both at the same time? If not, at what time during the day did you take each medication?

my uro prescibed both to be taken together. ive had no problems though i dont take the uroxatral on a regular basis.

Guys thank you for your input here. I currently take uroxatal and fenasteride for my bph. I want to add 5mg Cialis daily, the Canadian pharmacy info is helpful. I just need to talk to my uro to make sure it’s ok as far as blood pressure. He did mention in the past Cialis is good.
Online there’s no mention of adverse sexual side effects of Uroxatral(Alfuzosin).
Not true. My blood pressure is pretty normal with occasional spikes to 140/90 with any medicines. I take 10 mg Uroxatral daily, 5 mg Cialis, and they don’t influence my blood pressure at all. I take additional 5 mg of Bistolic (beta-blocker) to keep my BP at 110/70, where I feel comfortable. I also take another 25 mg of Atenolol (a beat blocker) to control my HR at 72-75. I always had a slightly elevated HR since young years. I never had an episode of low blood pressure. Of course everybody is different and has different sensitivity to alpha- and beta- blockers. None of them gave any sexual side effect. 5 mg Cialis practically doesn’t influence blood pressure. I tried even 20 mg, just gives you a heartburn.Of course, if you have low blood pressure in the first place, it can be dangerous.
