Hello, first of all forgive me english as much as you can, thanks!
Anyways, I live now in a very warm country. We have like 4-5 month's of winter and than very warm/hot weather. in summer it gets up to 40C in winter down to 5C ( pretty rare ) . anyways as you get it i'm used to this kind of weather.
Now my family decided to move to Norway for alot and alot of reasons. now the problem is alot of times when the weather is bad ( not sun, rain ) im feeling very sad, i cant even explain this. im feeling deprresed and dont want to do anything,i need the sun maybe.
what i can tell about my self, once after winter there was a very warm weather. i've felt so happy and good in my self that this day was amazing just from nothing.
the question is, what i can do in long long winter's if im deppresed? is there any cure?
Thanks!
Having a simelar thing at the moment although it spring it's the aniversery of my psychoctic episode so for me the return of the sun is giving me depression. I found talking to loved ones and seeing that they are in a good place helped me find my bearings a bit. Try do stuff with people as much as possible, try not to say no to an offer for socialising from anybody. But if it's all too much i'd speak to a doctor. Just starting on antidepressents myself tommorow and have heard countless good testimonials.
No SAD has no cure. You must get as much light as you can into your body. Go out in the day every day. You can take Vitamin D tablets which help. Also some people use a light box which mimics the sun's rays. I live in the UK which has long dank winters and I get very blue during the winter.
Exercise and daylight are important during the winter months.
I've heard something about vitamin D as supplement
also about the light
how helpful are these? can they acctualy be alternative for sun?
Hi Ben.Thanks for your post .It brightened me up so much. All your suggestions are simple but quit e wise.Best wishes
I do take vitamin D during the witer months. I don't honestly know if it helps, but I do take a lot of supplements, especially since I stopped anti depressants.
I have not tried a light box. They are quite pricey. I like to get outdoors every day if I can, as I am sure that helps.
