Hey thanks Neil. I have 6 weeks review 11th Aug and been writing down questions. But you have just saved me the bother. As I hope to fly Dublin to Manchester 18 Aug I have to ask about that one too.
Oh yes and my booklet saysci can't wash floors or hoover for 3 months --- not that that bothers me-- but also says I can't hang out washing so I want to ask about that but doubti f that will be a problem for you.
Another thing I want to ask is about stairs. I still cannot do stairs normally at 5 weeks post op.
I was told one crutch from week 5 to review at week 6 but can I now practice walking without crutch.
Your surgeon should show you your x-Rays there and then which will also show condition of other hip - it's amazing to see. You will not believe that it belongs to you when you see it
I'm going to see my consultant tomorrow and my main questions are around leg length differences, driving distances (I've been told half hour max but I need to drive long distances ) , flying long haul, and state of second hip. I'm 8 weeks and I've been driving etc for several weeks. I'm fortunate that my consultant gave me his email address so I've been able to ask some things weeks ago by email.
Woooo Hoooo!!! I can take off the TED stockings!!!!!
In fact I just have
And can drive, indoor cycle, swim etc etc
So all is good. And he thinks my other hip is fine at this time.
Didn't ask about bikini wax, sorry
I did quiz him re the breast stroke - and he said that there is no medical evidence to show that this is in fact harmful (& he is Professor of Orthopaedics at a top London teachng hospital, so I assume he can say these things with authority).... but he said it was just probably not wise to do it for the next 6 weeks, just to be careful and use the new hip wisely.......
That's awesome, yeah my surgeon told me it's ok to do breast stroke as well. I hit the pool yesterday and swam with my fins on freestyle....felt great.
