I can't take one pill and ruin myself I just can't my last experience with antipsychotic was very horrible I was suicidal I don't know why doctors gave me these for sleep he said it will improve your mood and sleep my mood is already very positive but SLEEP is the main issue
Don’t take it I was taking seroquel for two months and it was giving me heart pain and racing heart palpitations, my heart went up to 250 beats per minute i fainted I was rushed to the hospital, I was in the hospital for a week, I suggest taking something for sleep ?
Wickpedia says, "Quetiapine, marketed as Seroquel among other names, is an atypical antipsychotic used for the treatment of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorder.[6][7] It is also sometimes used as a sleep aid due to its sedating effect, but this use is not recommended.[8] It is taken by mouth.[6]"
Most of us are not Physicians and hesitate at providing advice on medication which counters what your Doctor told you. He/She knows the total picture and we don't. From your comments above I assume your issue is chiefly Anxiety and not bipolar or psychotic? IF that's the case I am surprised you were not prescribed one of the Benzodiazepine medications which are more commonly used for sleep assistance. They have a risk of becoming habit forming/addictive, but as long as you only take them occasionally and in low doses you should be OK.
You should talk about it more with your Doctor and tell him about your prior experience with antipsychotic medications. He may revise his prescription based on that.
Hi Max
I was prescribed with Seroquel for depression and anxiety in 2014. I first started off with 25mg and it gave me a very good sleep . As time went by, I am now on 200 mg. It is less sedating now bit it still help me to get to sleep . Check with your doctor to see if seroquel is correctly prescribed to help your symptoms as I don’t know what your diagnosis is . Wish you well
