Today is day 10 of taking sertraline how long did people's side effects last? I've started to take it at night so I am not as bad will the tablet be out of my system by morning ? Thanks in advance x
Only about 4 days for me. I have read a lot of horror stories on the site and to be honest I was fine. Day 2 was tough, but had worse hangovers. Few blips day 3 and 4 but after that ive been fine. Had an issue sleeping for a few days but all that has passed. Is it working? I dunno, maybe, feel a bit better in myself but there again I want that bad in the first place. Im on day 20 and have felt 'normal' for over a week and often forget im on tablets.
So for anyone reading this and taking the tablets, dont be put off by all the horror stories. Typically people only talk about bad expereinces on forums...give them a go and youll probably have very mild issues.
I think I am lucky compared to Others on this forum. I have been taking it since November. In the beginning I found it hard to differentiate what symptoms were due to the sertraline and what we're down to being unwell. Have blips and sleep isn't great but hoping the latest increase will sort this.
Hi rachaelxo. I have been taking 25mg of sertraline (as recommended by the pharmacist), each morning for the past 18 days. (He said to take 25mg for the first week) but since I remained feeling more depressed and axious I kept on the 25mg.
To-day, I regret to say, I am still feeling no better than when I first started taking it. In fact, for about 3 or 4 hours during the afternoon I feel worse. Off my food, aching leggs, hands shaking from time to time, feels as if I have flue, by evening though I feel much better.
I am now wondering if in fact I should increase to the recommended starting level of 50mg.
I know my GP would say take the 50mg. but I was taking 50mg for 5 months during the early part of last year, then when I felt better I reduced slowly before stopping it. Probably my mistake back then. I never did tell GP I was stopping it, I think they like to know. Hindsight is a wonderful thing they say. Hope you are feeling better soon.
I just had a slight headache, occasionally which stopped after a couple of weeks.
I took them at night and they seemed to help with sleep a bit. I'm off them now.
tablets aren't the only course of action available if you're depressed. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy can help a lot too. Good luck.
Thankyou I have an appointment tomorrow with the open mind team so hopefully I can give CBT a try x
