Hello, I started taking 25mg of Sertraline 9 months ago and overall the drug has worked well for my depression and anxiety, however I got my cholesterol checked yesterday and my overall cholesterol was high and my triglycerides are so high it's in the dangerous zone. I got this checked before I went on Sert. and my numbers were all good. Has anyone experiences Sertraline increasing your triglycerides and overall cholesterol as well? I am finding it hard to believe that it's not from this seeing as how I haven't changed my diet, I eat healthy, I have gained 10 pounds over the last 9 months which I also attribute to the sertraline, but the weight gain alone shouldn't be the only cause for this extreme spike. I did read a couple of studies that the drug does raise cholesterol for some people and especially does triglycerides in women. Any help is much appreciated as I am at a loss because the drug has helped me a lot but I don't want my health in danger. Also my doctor believes it's just genetics but I find this much of an increase hard to believe.
I personally have never heard of sertraline raising cholesterol and triglycerides like that from what I see but I’m not a Dr so I can’t really say for sure!
Drug also raise my cholesterol and the numbers on my liver has increased but I've been on it for 2 and 1/2 months it worked in the beginning but it's not working anymore thank you for letting me know that the same thing happened to you with your cholesterol I'm on a 100mgs of Zoloft
