sertraline

Hi, i have been on 50mg of sertraline for 13 days, doctor said it would help my menopause hot flushers so far it has not, infact i am more hot than ever, has anyone had sweating on them, thanks

Hi Sue. I have been on 100mg for a couple of months and I have sweated far more than usual, so it's not just you!

I must say although I'm not a doctor I am surprised you are being prescribed Sertraline for hot flushes. It's quite a heavy medication I think, (not least as it seems to make a lot of people put on weight!) and quite a lot of us here, myself included, have found it a job to stop taking it. I am assuming you have tried all the usual herbal things for hot flushes? (I think I used sage leaf from memory). anyhow as I say, I'm not a doctor, but it does make me a bit suspicious that manufacturers are trying to expand the number of "suitable patients" more for thier benefit than ours.

Hi Sue..I have been on 75mg for over a year & I get dreadful sweating...I didn't realise until couple of weeks ago that the two could be related. I thought it was menopausal & perhaps it partly is as I had hysterectomy 18 months ago..I'm also taking Promensil for the flushes (recommended by GP as it is oestrogen free) but sweating is still really bad & now I think it's related to the Sertraline

Hi Sue - I've been on 50mg setraline for three weeks now.  Every night sweats and hot flushes.  Also get very bad burning skin feeling.  It feels like being on fire.  Jude

hi i am now of them could not carry on with the hot sweats, i am also menapausel so it made things worst,  i am trying liquid prozac half a spoon aday for now, started today , sue

Hi Sue..as I said above not sure if my dreadful sweats are due to menopause or sertraline or bit of both so will be very interested to hear if they improve now that you've stopped. I find them really bad specially in evening & during night..used to take my 75g in morning, have recently changed to night time but see no difference. And sometimes the sweating is a lot worse than other times but I can't pinpoint any reason..it's embarrassing & so uncomfortable. Hope u feel better..let us know how u get on.
