hi I've been on sertraline for 4 months starting on 100mg unable to manage so go reduced to 50mg which seemed better for about a month but anxiety came back so increased back to 100 mg with some diazepam till things settled felt better within a few days but anxiety is back but not as bad not sure to give them a few more weeks terrified that I'll go back to where I was a few months ago any help welcome
Hi Brenda, I would really ask your doctor, lots of people having concerns about sertaline and other meds, getting more anxious because they seem to take a long time to work or have side effects, then worry wether to stop, persevere, or change meds. Everyone's different and your doc will know best, I've been through years of trying different meds and now manage with small amount of diazapam when really needed( social occasions, or if I have a day for some reason I'm more anxious than normal) then I have to push myself. Hope you get on right path, helps to talk, for reasurance , believe some meds can help but not a cure, have to push ourselves as well, anxiety can creep back in when we feel relatively ok, ❤️
Hi Brenda, I agree with Edwina your anxiety is being fuelled by you being afraid you are going to go back to where you were a few months ago, you've just taken a step backwards that's all, the general trend is upwards.

Hi, the meds will only provide a temporary escape from anxiety, see your doctor and ask if you can get counselling to find and help manage the root cause.
