Severe Bloating and Workout- Breathing Techniques

Hello,

Apparently strange but beneficial technique, I've noticed recently in my case about severe bloating that I really suffer from is breathing techniques,

I do regular exercise -pilates and Yoga- and I thought why still I can't get rid of bloating, I know there are many like me out there, and we are looking for a solution finally!

I'm not certain if -learning deep breathing techniques- may work for everyone!

But,

In my case which was really annoying bloating and gas in my intestines, it worked to some extent.

If you are also interested, for a start, give it a shot for a week or so and see hopefully the changes in the amount and the times of having gas...

→Something you should do is at the time of each bloating not let your gas get free from your abs instead keep it and start breathing deeply from you abs,

Put the palm of ur hand on your abs and make sure you are inhaling deeply to ur abs and not CHEST...

By practising afew times you will learn it very easily.

→Sit normally, like in yoga position,Try to inhale from nose and keep your breath for 5 seconds and exhale it from mouth...just concentrate on ur breath , listen to it, and keep this process when you feel bloating,

-the thing is, by this action, the blood in the walls of ur intestine will suck the trapped gas in that and direct it to lungs- and you exhale it through ur mouth.

Repeat this function conciously -whenever you feel gas in 'your abs' , do it as much as you can until you will notice the gas in your intestines disappear.

Each time you have gas and feel bloating do not let it be removed,

Just do this technique,

For me, gradually, I can see some subtle changes...

P.S. remember any exercise from pilates to even martial arts which needs deeper and longer breathing can teach you how to concentrate on your breath and solve this annoying problem like bloating.

To make your chest capacity more, start with

PlANK exercise-stay on that position for 1 min. and by time increase it up to 2 to 4 min. -search on the internet to find more information.

Hopefully, it works for you if you stick to it regulary for a month or so and do it correctly and share your postive results with others.

My problem is I get bloating and abdominal pain prior to an attack and due to regular stabbing pains I can't deep breathe and it roots me to the spot almost as every step makes the pain worse so just end up moving a step or two forward and a step or two back until my body relinquishes. It is so frustrating as I can't a rhythm in anything to do with this to make things easier. Being an occasional runner I would never underestimate the importance of breathing. I tend to do the deep breathing once the attack is over because, and this may be hard to believe, but for me if I run 2 miles then I am not so fit that I need a good breather at the end and usually perspiring so I take big deep breaths as part of the recovery process and how I feel at this point is how I feel after an attack. I feel tired, wobbly legs and out of breath.

Hey Astrozombie,

It seems that your pain goes on and off .

Such breathing technique can work for a normal constant bloating, the cases who do not have pains like you.

Which part of your abs has such stabbing pain?

Have you ever consulted any doctor about it?

If so,

What are you diagnosed with?

Still I think your issue is not that serious because the pain in ur abs is not non-stop,

Just in each attack it comes temporarily.

Let me know if you see a doctor.

I hope it is nothing serious.

Don't worry.

Hello Jennifer

Indeed it does. I do not doubt it. I am a big fan of different breathing techniques 2:2, 3:3, 4:4 I did try 3:2 but found I was concentrating more than breathing.

The pain I have is under my ribs all across where the navel is. To be honest I am too busy holding myself to be exact.

The doc just says oh it's IBS and you just need a clear out. You know what doc's are like.

Not that serious now but dial back 6 years and I could not get out of the bathroom for 2 years I lost my job and my partner. I do not blame them I became too unreliable. I took a year off and did the best I could to sort myself out. I still get attacks as bad as they ever were where I lose 3 hours of my life. I would say my condition is definitely more manageable than it was but I have just come back from a run and do many things which I never did before. The pain when I get is excruciating though and I can hardly move. I have never felt pain like it and I once crashed a pushbike at 40 mph into the back of a car and my groin smash into crossbar. The pain is worse than that so always looking for ways to Improve. I drink peppermint tea run 25 miles a week etc. It has taken me a long time to get here but still not fixed.

Good luck on your quest

Hi Astrozombie,

I'm happy you've become better after years .

I've serached about your pain and found some issues related to that.

But I dunno which one is the exact pain of yours.

I hope it is just a simple Ibs, and one day you can find the final solution and let me know that you feel so much better.

Anyway, I hope I hear from you soon and tell me you don't have that excruciating pain again.

by the way, never give up on running and breathing techniques...

As I see, you r strong enough as you used to be.

Good luck!

Hello Jennifer

Better but not cured as I still have attacks.  Cool me neither but it is like cramp of the stomach.

That is what the doc said re: IBS but he also said it is something you manage rather than we cure.

I don't today but I doubt I have seen the last of it

Andes re: running and breathing. I used to do a lot of walking but had some serious relapses about a year ago and you don't want that when you are in the middle of nowhere so currently switched back to running. Only a 4 mile round trip but keeps the body moving.

I am getting as fit as I was before but mentally weaker as 1 I have realised I am not infallible and for a long time became afraid to leave the flat due to the comfort of knowing the loo was nearby. Sounds mad but true and 2 I curse IBS as I was happy in that relationship but my lack of ability to control it ruined that so I have now something I never had previously, a regret but I have learned to live with it. For what my doc said is a minor condition it has had a major impact on me.

Deep breathing works for a number of issues as it triggers the parasympathetic nervous system which calms the body. In terms of gas it works because regular repetitive inhalation stimulates peristalsis, so the trapped gas can move through the intestines and the pain disapates.

Hi Astrozombie,

I have IBS and I know how devastating life is with that,

Although our cases kinda different but in general we suffer from the same problem.

Everyday I try to make myself busy and have positive thoughts and not make a monster of my problem.

Also most often I search about it to see what new remedy I could find to improve my health..

When I see many others r like me out there I say to myself" don't worry you r not alone"

It boots my tolerance...

Anyway,no matter what,

I wish you all the best!

Good luck!

Hey Leeniepie,

You hit the nail on the head!

It helps in most cases,

Apart from that, nowadays, also taking medicines are not as useful as it should be,

So, People have slowly learned to trust more natural remedies since they are tired of taking drugs that still after years their conditions have not made them satisfied yet .

Hello Jennifer

Yes it can be debilitating and I am more likely to have an attack if I am looking forward to something as it is a case I want to do x don't be ill and you know the rest.

Indeed and why I come here

I am not convinced re: remedies

Ditto

Thanks so much, Jennifer.. I shall try that.  Just wondered… with me, the bloating seems to start in the afternoon, and I if I'm going somewhere, I'll make sure it's before early afternoon!

Thank you for posting this… I'm going to try this.  Drugs are not helping me.

Hi Meg,

I understand how you feel,we are in the same boat,

It is really hard to control bloating when it is more than normal.

I do pilates everyday plus this breathing technique.

I believe this technique along with exercises I do regularly has helped me to improve alot.

If you do workout regularly,

make sure you get better soon.

Take care.

I used to take Lactulose and Laxido and a few others' I can not remember but I have gone au naturale with no drugs and no sachets.

Thank you so much for your reply - I shall do that. Much appreciated.
