Hi Sharon, can't help with the daytime as I use Viscotears and it's OK for me. At night I use Xailin Night as I I didn't get on well with Lacrilube. I buy it in packs of 3 from Amazon.

Hope you find something to suit you soon xxx

I've just found an over-the-counter product that works better for me than anything else I've tried. I'll send you a personal message via this site, as we're not allowed to advertise on here.

D'accord Merci x

If you're not already you need to be taking 1100 mg of Omega-3. This almost completely solved my dry eye problem. It was recommended to me by my eye doctor who is very homopathic.

My doctor put me on restasis eye drops. They are a prescription. He also did advise to take the fish oil. Hope this helps. I also have one eye that's worse than the other! It also had a film... the restasis cleared that up!

You are welcome

Hi Sharon,

Mine was exactly the same, but i am now under the eye specialist clinic have they have put me on a eye drop that is used at night call IKERVIS drops and I swear by these, they were the only think that helped.  Please ask your Dr about them as they are expensive on the NHS but if your eyes are that dry and nothing else is working this could be your answer too.

Hope this helped.

Regards,

Mandy

Hi mandy

I have they same awful dry eyes  I was put on Hydramed by the hospital they can be used six times a day and lacrilube at night.

I think it's what works best for you as everyone is so different I don't find lacrilube works at night as my eyes stick to me eye lids and it's painful so seeing if I can change them will try the fish oil.

Hope you find something that helps

I'm sure glad to hear someone else has this problem. My left eye is definitely worse and it drives me nuts. I'm on restasis too but I haven't had any relief yet but I understand it can take a month or more so I'm still waiting. I used to take omega 3 and that solved my problem but since I got on prednisone I'm not allowed too take it any more.

Hello sharon54739. I am having more trouble these days and just had a bad time with a blocked gland as I have MGD and it was the eyelid which is always more swollen (so to speak) than the other. I ended up at the ey hospital (Manchester) and admitted I'd been lax on my daily hygiene routiene. Every morning I wipe with Blephasol, which I buy online or at retailer. I constantly use celluvisc ampoules; non preservative, as for prolonged use, must be non-preservative. I also use Hylo forte. I have spare of the latter in handbag and in kitchen. Excpet for blephasol, all on prescription. Didn't like lacrilube - use hyloforte instead. Lastly, I use the Eyebag which I bought online from the maker. There are other cheaper things, but I like theirs. You can also use a flannel soaked in hot water as a compress instead - the warmth really does help a lot. And the eye hospital said a flannel hold the heat longer than cotton wool. I am going to try Omega 3 as mentioned on here as my eyes are defo worse and much more photosensitive. For this I have bought the overglasses online as I lost a pair on holiday! I carry them in my bag for dry air situations (air conditioning) and too bright overhead lights. Hope this helps xx

Encore merci Sharon

Oh Bless, there is not much you can do apart from putting drops in, ask your doctor if there is anything else you can have xxx

All of these are good suggestions. I also have two humidifers one of which is a table top right beside my bed. It does seem to help. I take Restasis twice daily and use Systane preservative free drops. Have not had my ducts plugged but think that may be coming. Good luck.

Had my eyes plugged. Use over the counter jel for severely dry eyes at night. My doctor doesn't tell me my eyes are dry anymore and i feel the difference

That makes me feel better about having the tear duct plugs. I loved the gel. In the first few weeks after diagnosis it was the only thing that provided comfort. At least now I don't look like a vampire with those very red eyes anymore,
