Hello All - I am suffering from sever osteoporosis. my age is 44 male. My T score is -4.2. I have 3 compression fracture in my spine. Docotrs has advised me to take terepartide i.e. tereos or Terefrake.

Hi, I'm not male but I have osteoporosis (OP) also with a t-score similiar to yours, diagnosed a year ago. Was also prescribed teriparatide and took it for a year. It involved injecting yourself daily with a pre-measured dose. Don't be put off by this, it was really simple and they show you how to do it. It's basically like the pen diabetics use, it's pre-loaded with a months dose and you change the needle daily. It's not sore as the needle is really thin (the width of an eyelash) - you don't feel it. You "inject" into your thigh - and it's all sorted in 30seconds. I had no side-effects except tiredness but as I am also taking other meds so they could have been to blame. No med.is really side-effect free however and you may experience some. It is only one of a few bone meds. that has been found to actually rebuild bone - most of the others just slow down bone loss but do help. In men and others with severe OP it is the preferred treatment. It is known as a "high- tech" treatment and must be prescribed by a rheumatologist. It's also very expensive (apx. 570 Euro per month) but may be covered by your health service. The main downside I found was that the "pen" has to be kept in the 'fridge and, on occasions, I forgot and left it out - and had to get a new pen. Not easy. Finally, after a year on it, I am now taking Actonel - once a week for 5 years - and in a 6 months will have a DEXA scan to check (hopefully) the bone improvement. Good luck.
