So for 10 months I’ve had terrible Heath anxiety. I’ve worried about lots of things including brain tumours, MS and numerous different cancers. To cut a long story short about this (as I’ve explained a lot more in previous posts) I got put on 20mg of citalopram last month which has eased my anxiety a lot, however I still have this hand tremor that bothers me. It appeared back in jan when I was worrying about MS. Started in my thumbs, then my fingers and now October it seems to be one my wrists too a little. It’s really fine and doesn’t really stop neck doing anything but with my anxiety really low I worry that this isn’t just something caused by anxiety and could get worse? I asked the doctor who seems to think it is an essential tremor that will go away when I’m recovered from anxiety however it’s not gone. I’m scared it will get worse over time and stop me doing stuff or spread around my body, anyone had this? (I also get a weakness sensation too in my arms and forarms like I’m not very strong)

Bonjour Worryoverhealth et bienvenue sur le forum ! Je suis vraiment désolé que vous souffriez autant ! Les tremblements ont-ils commencé lorsque vous avez commencé le médicament ? Parfois, cela peut être un effet secondaire. Je veux aussi vous rassurer en vous disant que les tremblements des mains sont très courants avec l'anxiété. Et même si vous pensez que votre anxiété est mieux grâce au citalopram, je pense que ce problème vous donne un peu plus d'anxiété. Mon conseil est de vous rassurer en répétant ce que le médecin vous a dit - que ce n'est rien de plus sérieux. De plus, vous n'êtes sous médicament que depuis un mois - parfois il peut falloir 6 à 8 semaines pour ressentir l'effet complet. Alors accrochez-vous. Ce problème devrait disparaître !

Hi Brianna, the tremors started in Janruary originally in my thumbs and now seems to be my hands and can sort of feel it in my wrists too. I worry it’s got worse and is something progressive which scares me not particularly the tremor itself. I’ve only been on citalopram for a month or so so I really doubt it’s anything to do with the medication. Thankyou for the advice!! Much appreciated x

Le médicament peut provoquer des effets secondaires, surtout le premier mois environ. Je prends du Prozac et j'ai ressenti tous mes effets secondaires au cours des premières 2-3 semaines. Le tremblement se manifeste-t-il dans les deux mains, ou seulement dans une ? Une maladie particulière court-elle dans votre famille ?
Je pense vraiment que c'est votre anxiété, et l'anxiété a tendance à nous faire imaginer le pire scénario - c'est pourquoi vous pensez que cela va empirer et que vous ne vous en remettrez pas. Cependant, si cela vous préoccupe suffisamment pour augmenter votre anxiété davantage - peut-être vaut-il la peine d'en reparler avec votre médecin ?
