Dor aguda no fêmur 9 semanas após a cirurgia

Have been doing well after complex primary thr. Was walking up to 2miles. 2 weeks ago had sharp pain after walking almost 2 miles with cane. At pt, he found IT band with knot in it. Uncomfortable massage and sore but seemed improved. Yesterday while walking a few blocks had sharp pain with each step for about 10 steps. Pain then stopped.  This morning again had pain multiple times with walking very short distances around house. Now afraid to walk. Back sore because I am favoring good leg and limping to avoid pain. Thought about going to er but not really in pain now. Last few hours no pain with walking but have avoided walking much.  Worry about wires and clips in femur but both pt and doctor said they would not cause any problem. Not sure what to do. Had surgery in another city so seeing doctor in not easy option. Is this part of normal phases of recovery?

Dear Laura

I would be inclined to give your body a rest break of a couple of days and pick up a couple of elbow crutches and concentrate on steady good walking with a good gait and stop if you feel that you have any pain. It may not work for you but it is how I would approach it .

There is no shame in using two crutches however long after surgery you need to use them. You will be making it easier to retrain your body to good balanced walking and you will be safeguarding your back.

Cheers. Richard

How long ago was your replacement. I had mid thigh pain after 3 months as I over did walking and the treadmill. Doctor told me to take it easier and it went away and has not returned 2 years later. Microerosion I think is what he called it but he did order an X-Ray and it looked good

no...... I do not think it is normal.......and while it may be difficult..... you at least need to call the surgeon's nurse and tell her or him what is going on........and what you should do........ are you pushing the walking thing too far??....... just a thought..... do you have an indoor hot public pool near you??...... walking in the water for now would be better on your hip......  will pray for you!

Saw pt.  This time I have an inflamed bursa and some muscles along pelvic crest in knots. Most uncomfortable massage but helped some. Her comment was that everything is so tight and in areas that are hard to stretch. They added 2 cm in length to leg so I guess i will be prone to these set backs until everything settles down to the new normal. I guess it's 1 step forward, 2 steps back.   Just can't seem to get the balance of doing enough but not too much.  So back to cane, and ice packs.
