Shockwave Therapy to help Gluteus Tendinopathy following THR

I'm a year post THR and have got Gluteus Tendinopathy and Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome. My physio suggested I try Shockwave Therapy as nothing else has cured it. I've also tried steroid injections.

Has anyone else had Shockwave Therapy and did it help.

Thanks

Morning Nick. I was diagnosed with various tendonitis and bursitis. I never had shockwave therapy but they did use a TENS machine on buttock of operated leg to help with muscle strengthening and pain. I ordered a smaller version of this machine and use it at home. That bursitis and tendonitis is nothing to laughter about!! It's a challenge to get over that! I'm 9 months out and still struggling not as bad as in the beginning. I hope all goes well for you and best of luck to you for a speedy recovery and healing. LD

hi nick,

I did not have Shock wave therapy but like linda, TENS machine was used on troubled spot ... it gave some relief - I had trochanteric bursitis in hip 9 months post-op RTHR ... was 3 months post-op from 2nd THR and surgeon did not want to give me cortisone shot (yet) - he did mention shock wave therapy but could not guarantee any improvement -

Hopefully someone here had this kind of therapy ...

big warm hug

Thanks Renee. I thought about Tens but was told Shockwave therapy was more likely to have a positive effect. Will see what other replies I get.
