Hello everyone.
samantha66063 - get checked for a PID - pelvic inflammatory disease. My 19 year daughter had same symptoms as you and after weeks and months of not knowing what it is, she had several swab tests done (vaginal) and finally the last swab came back showing PID although the other countless swabs never showed this. A 2 week course of strong antibiotics (namely Doxycline and Metronidazole) will need to be taken twice a day. Pain could only be managed by Codeine 30mg (again prescription only). Paracetamol and Ibuprofen both failed to give relief. My daughter had to go to the hospital Accident & Emergency who did all these further tests for her. She was given morphine which didn't help and an injected muscle relaxant was administered. She stayed overnight and was discharged with PID on antibiotics and codeine. Over 8 days later she still has pain.
I hope you get better.
wacky - OT means Occupational Therapist.
wacky - in answer to your questions:
Did you have these pains in your leg and groin when you had this first xray that shows an earlier problem - yes I did but not as severe
When and if they operate will it be in the same area as a femoral hernia, if so it would hopefully rule that out anyway - if they operated it would be to directly "shave" the hip bone that was protruding so higher up than the hernia site I would guess.
If you are managing to cope with your problems and keep the pain at bay by moving carefully would you still want an operation, especially one where they are going to take bone off - I would choose the op as a last resort if my life was completely hindered by it. I have therefore chosen to live with it and be careful with it as shaving any form of bone may well lead to arthritis in older age.
Did you ask the consultant if weight lifting would affect this problem you have - The Consultant in fact asked me if I kick boxed as my injury is very consistent with kick boxers as they lift their leg considerably high to kick constantly. I asked him about my gym activities but he wasn't concerned about it. However I was doing a yoga teacher training course at the time and he advised me to give that up as a lot of yoga moves were very injurious to that area. In fact while doing the Warrior Pose I suffered a terrible attack which meant I had to pull out of the yoga teacher training course.
I have rejoined the gym a month ago and am back in my weight training routine. I feel better for it. It' was hard to just give up on something that I enjoyed for so long. Hopefully I won't aggravate the hip. I avoid squatting or lunging exercises.
Hello m33r4. Thank you for your response. I mentioned PID to my obgyn and she said that I wouldn't have that because I tested negative for gonnohria(sp?) and chlamydia. did your daughter have either of those
samantha66063 - she tested negative for all STDs 3 times in the recent weeks. Then whilst in hospital last week they swabbed her again and she was positive for chlamydia. The worrying thing is it took 5 tests to get to that diagnosis.
How old is she? What kind of test did she get done for the PID? Also what exact pains did she have? I have pains that feel like menstrual cramps and really bad pain in the right lower groin and sometimes on the left side. It hurts to push to go the bathroom
to weepeecee from cuzinit; I am positive that the pain, both in the right side of my groin as well as in my knee, involving my sciatica and shooting into right foot is caused by an injury to my psoap muscle. I did, whatever I did, some time ago (months) and seem to have aggravated and made it much worse by 'ignoring ' the symptoms until now. After a lot of researching and reading of symptoms on many sites including those of chiropracters, yoga experts and back pain specialists, I have found and am implementing a few exercises to'release' the muscle. It hurts but is starting to make some improvement. The aching pain at night is the worst, it has had me in tears and sleeping sitting up on the couch more than once. If you think any of this sounds like what you are going thru, I would be happy to text with you. Good luck and let me know. Namaste
Samantha - My daughter had swab tests much like STD tests. The pain she had is as you describe
However she also began to get a foul smelling discharge along with spotting. She constipated and found bowel movements painful. She also found it tortuous to pass urine.
My daughters and I have the exact same pain. no one can figure it out. it sounds like the femoral hernia, but of course regular dr said no after xrays, I was wondering if any of you have had Perthes hip disease in your family? my dad had it as a child , into his old age, I don,t know if it runs in families or not, but adults can have it too. same symptoms. going to dr ASAP, Will let you know.
By chance do you have the Essure birth control device? Or any other medical device. I had the Essure along with thousands of other women with similar symptoms which were resolved after removing the medical device. Your body could be fighting of the foreign object.
Hi everyone
About 11 years ago, a week after the birth of my last child, I developed 2 dvts in my right leg, 23cm from the groin down the thigh, and also 15cm in the calf. Over the past 5 years I have been getting severe pain on and off in sometimes one, sometimes both groin areas. The pain is quite often when I have been sitting in a car, or on a bus/train. When I go to get up I can barely walk. It is quite debilitating and at times I am unable to walk without assistance from my husband or children.
I went to the doctor a couple of years ago and he couldn't find anything, after doing an ultrasound/x-rays. He said they'd have to open me up and do an exploratory. I am hesitant to do this because of the dvts.
I have never had any idea what could be causing the pain but at least now I have some idea what to research/ask my doctor.
I have the same problem you are having. I had a CT done ten months ago and all came back clear. I also had a knee X-ray done and it was clear. last week I could not take it anymore and went to the ER. They did a ultrasound of my groin and found it to be clear. I started crying and the Dr. said, but I had a friend in CT whom is a Dr to look at your CT again and he said they must have been looking for a stone because this girls problem is in her hip. I was flipped, no one wants to hear that. So it's 1:19am and I am scheduled for an MRI @9:00am.I am scared to death and I am in chronic pain. I will post my results as soon as I am given them. I cannot live with this pain, this is horrible.
I have been researching groin painfor the last year. In the beginning, I experienced a moderate pain in my right groin everytime I got out of my car. At first I thought I had overdone at the gym. The pain would come and go until about 6 weeks ago when it came on with such force that I began walking with a limp. The pain would radiate throughout my upper thigh down into my foot and top right thigh. Perscription anti inflamatory pills control the general pain but the localized pain in my groin is becoming worse. Even if I am sleeping, sometimes I awake with an aching, almost cramping sensation coming from my groin. It is almost as if my groin has the flu.
I live in the U.S. I have had x-rays and am currently in Physical Therapy. I am "learning " how to breathe correctly and how to stabalize my torso while moving. It is quite difficult ,since This condition has made me unstable in the first place. The x-rays show no degeneration of the hip. I am 61 years old and am in reasonably fit shape. Until 6 weeks ago, I did some form of exercise 6 days a week. Please keep me posted if anything new is learned.
I have read you mail with great interest as groin pain has been with me since August. I have had physio and visits to an osteopath, blood test and x Ray. Although there has been some improvement I am still experiencing pain. Today I visited my local hospital who have referred me for a scan the doctor feels it is the hip socket? I am interested in your information about a lump under your arm I feel you need to pursue this further with your doctors as (I am not intending to frighten you) but several years ago I had blood test for a condition and the doctors reassured me that as the blood test was ok I did not have cancer I was relieved but you can guess what I am to say next.. I did have a tumour? Cancer of the lymph glands expresses it self in lumps my father had this. I am not a medical person just personal experiences
when I have my scan I will post again.
good luck
I have visited the hospital to day and the doctor has refered me for a scan. I had an x Ray showed same as you. The doctor Said X-ray would not show cartridge problems in the ball part of the hip? Thought this migh help you.
i have found an osteopath to be more helpful and have been advised to continue with this treatment until I have the scan results. Hope this is helpful.
My doctor told me that a scan would show cartilage problems in the hip which an ordinary X-ray would not, as I have severe groin pain.
i have had dvt in the past not in the groin, when I had an operation for another reason a net was inserted in my neck to avoid complication of blood clots. Hope this helps.
My doctor says that ordinary x Ray will not show cartalege problem in the ball socket in the hips and has recommended me for a scan. I have been experiencing groin pain for several months I go to an osteopath and that is helping
I notice this thread is over a year old. The comments by meepeecee over a year ago could very well be mine today. When attempting to turn in bed last night the pain was so severe it shot down as far as my calf. Has anyone found any relief over the last year?
I have excruciating pain in my groin and will go to doctors as soon as I can but having trouble walking, feels like my leg will give way
