Hi all. I had an ovarian cyst measuring 7cm 2 years ago on my right ovary and had keyhole surgery in sept 2015, they couldn't remove it as when they went in it was grabbing on to my ovary and they said they would have had to take the ovary so they drained it. But the pain never left and shortly after in my follow up i discovered i had another cyst again on the right ovary, i had an ultrasound on tuesday and it is measuring 8.5cm, It is pushing my uterus and my bladder as it is so big which is causing pain and also needing to go to the toilet alot . If i go ahead and have surgery to remove this cyst there is a good chance they will remove my Ovary and i just find that really scary as im only 25 and have no kids yet. So do i get it removed or leave it there? i have my appointment with my Gyna on the 3rd October and he will be eager to know whether im having surgery or not. Thanks in advance.
Ya sea que te extirpen el quiste/ovario o no, es una decisión que tomas tú y tu médico, pero te diré que, a los 28 años, me extirparon el ovario izquierdo debido a un enorme quiste dermoide. No afectó mi fertilidad tener solo un ovario. He tenido ciclos completamente normales (ahora tengo 35 años) y he estado embarazada con el quiste y después de haberme extirpado el quiste/ovario.
De hecho, el dermoide se descubrió durante una cesárea y me dijeron que ese ovario probablemente no había estado funcionando durante años.
Además, existe la posibilidad de que al extirpar el quiste, no tengan que extirpar todo el ovario y puedas conservar parte de él. ¡Incluso un pequeño fragmento de ovario puede producir óvulos y hormonas!

Do you know what the percentage was when you were going for your surgery if they would take the ovary or not? I just don't know whether to leave it there or get it removed. It could be damaging the Uterus and Bladder if i leave it in but then again it might stay there and be ok.
My gyna is really good but he doesn't give me much advise whether to take it out or leave it there because i guess it wasnt doing much harm then but now its pushing everything out of the way.
No sé el porcentaje porque no teníamos idea de que estaba allí hasta que estaba en medio de la cesárea. Pero el mío era del tamaño de una toronja, así que no creo que hubiera ninguna esperanza de salvar el ovario en absoluto.
¿El tuyo es de 8, ¿verdad? Creo que podrían salvar al menos parte del ovario a ese tamaño.
De hecho, tengo un quiste en mi ovario restante también, y he elegido dejarlo por ahora, según el consejo de mi endocrinólogo reproductivo. El mío no es muy grande todavía, pero lo haré retirar una vez que tenga otro hijo.
Diría que, si tu quiste está empujando los órganos en tu cuerpo, podrías considerar la posibilidad de retirarlo. Especialmente ya que tienes otro ovario sano. Pero eso es obviamente tu elección.

I think the same, the ovary might not be in a good condition now after having a cyst on it for 2 years messing it around!!
