I knocked my "funny bone" several months ago hard enough that my pinky went numb for a minute.
I did not think anything of it and I think I was ok over a period of time. My shoulder started hurting.
The main things that are painful are washing my hair, putting my hand behind my back and above my head. I did not do anything to cause this pain. It has been going on for months. I was just hoping it would go away but it has not. I want to know if there is a possibility that knocking my elbow could have caused this shoulder pain?
Possibly. The Ulner Nerve runs through shoulder and down past your funny bone into your wrist and hand. Knocking it might have damaged it/inflammed it. I'd go and see your doctor.
I developed ulnar nerve issues after having rotator cuff surgery and being in a sling. Had to have a nerve conduction test to confirm it. If it has been bothering you that long, you should see a doctor. Bending elbow will also aggravate it. Try to keep arm more straight when you can, especially sleeping. Avoid repetitive elbow movements.
just like that old song...the elbow's connected to the shoulder bone and the shoulder bone's connected to the neck bone...it's chain. It is possible to bang your elbow and affect your shoulder and vice versa. you may have had a pre existing imbalance that needed just one more straw to cause the shoulder to act up. Would not hurt to ask a Dr about it and maybe get some therapy to see how your alignment is in general.
