Hello All,
can an anyone advise please. I have been tapering on the dsns programme quite successfully and managed to reduce down to 8.5 . As soon as I reached this level aches and pains started up but put up with it for a week now just in case it was withdrawal symptoms from the pred. This morning on waking I am in a lot of pain on my left shoulder with a bit of swelling too. Has anyone else noticed swelling in this situation? It is not sore to touch but yipes! In moving I really hurt.
Grateful for any response.
Barbara
Sounds like you are letting in a flare - and it is affecting your shoulder. I can't say I have ever noticed swelling. But then - I wouldn't have left it for a week. I would have gone back to the old dose for another month and then tried again.
I have upped dose from 8.5 to 10 today Eileen,so will see how that goes. Thanks as always for your input. It's disappointing when after doing so well that it's "here we go again" Very ironic too that when I saw my Rheumotologist 10 days ago,I was feeling good.
regards,
Barbara
Always the same isn't it!!!!
Hi barbara, I am normally PMR pain free, but have had a couple of minor flares. On each flare up my dosage till I felt good 4-6 mg, then drop to the highest level of my DSNS protocol and started again on a modified schedule. Never had any swelling, just the stiff sore muscles. Good luck on the rest of your PMR journey, stay positive and try to smile. ☺️
Thanks for your reply. On any previous flares I have not noticed swelling either. I have upped my dose of pred a bit but if this does not reduce swelling in a day or two will contact GP in case it is something else. I am positive most of the time but today feel a bit low.
Regards,
Barbara
