Side effects from hrt patches

Has anyone experienced red blotchy skin the nose and mouth due to taking either hrt tablets or the hrt patches? Just trying to rule out any medication that I'm on as can't put it down to anything else

Hi Dottie - I am wondering if you might have rosacea.  Here is my story...I was prescribed a nasty blood pressure RX about 6 years ago, started getting red splotchy almost like broken blood vessel type patches on my nose, around my nose & chin.  Went to dermatologist & determined it was Rosacea.  So I started taking Doxycycline (antibiotic) that reduces inflammation.  I followed a Rosacea elimation diet, and while I got some relief, it never seemed to entirely disapear.  I started to notice that when I got a “hot flash” my flushing/rosacea would last for hours & days...the best way I can describe it is I felt very vascular on my face & Head, sometimes my face would feel tingling.  I started to think it was being caused by my awful blood pressure medication, but now I am off that & I still get it.  After doing a lot of online research, I now believe it is a symptom of Menopause being caused by spikes in cortisol.  Google Can cortisol trigger rosacea.  Many menopausal woman also develop Rosacea.  Go on the Rosacea forum on patient.info for more info - just thought I would let you know what my journey has been and see if there are any similarities.  I will also tell you, our skin is a good indicator that there is something going on in our bodies, so perhaps your HRT is just not right for you - I hope you find out the cause -

Hi Dottie, just been reading up on side effects of hrt as just been swapped from pills to patches. Sadly this is a side effect of hrt treatment if you get ulcers or sore patches in your mouth go to the dr as they can give you something for that. It will settle down with time but sometimes the pros outweigh the cons and if you were getting really bad meno symptoms and really needed the hrt like I did then a few mouth ulcers every now and then are really a small price to pay for the help we get in other areas from the hrt. Make sure you use a tooth and gum repair toothpaste and an alcohol free or dry mouth mouthwash to aid healing. Hope this is of help to you. XXX
